Seriously, its free. And some maps are really good for slayer.
Free or not, still technically counts as DLC, meaning everyone in the lobby has to have it. Forge Island maps are out there, but most predominant in Throwdown and Flood. Even then they are few and far between.
Edit : There was a Forge Island playlist back in May, about a month after you played last.
Forge island really should of been a big update rather than a DLC, so everybody had it and they could make much better maps with the open canvases and new stuff like trees (seriously, i love maps that use those now!)

EXACTLY!!
most people should have it tbh so they should come up quite a few times when you play and you can do loads with those maps, ive made loads of maps (mine arent tha good) but i have made loads so it shows you can do alot with that map!! So definatly!!
Still should be some more forge island maps added to the fray. Maybe seeing the trees will help me calm down more. Add’em in btb etc.
No, it would confuse people!
Didn’t the last Forge Community playlist have Forge Island maps though? They may implement those maps into Match Making, but I think they would have done so already.

I think halo 3 made heroic dlc required playlists when the heroic map pack was made free. What’s so hard about forcing people to download a free map?
Hard drive space shouldn’t be an issue, since you need at least 8 gb to play multiplayer.
The forge island maps should have been included in the regular playlists after they were tested in the forge island playlist. There were some really good maps in that playlist and I don’t know about everyone else but I like a little variety in my map selection.
the problem is 343 choose the worst maps imaginable, seriously there terrible, if they choose some really good maps then yeah definatly

This might of actually been better.
Considering that some people just skip it or don’t care, have no patience in downloading, or are not interested etc, we may never know how many people decided not to get it.
Also, new players coming in (I know, sounds shocking to some) may not even know about it!
Since it’s free they need to make it required to play matchmaking and then integrate it into a bunch of the playlists… But they won’t because they’re 343 and they don’t know how to create a good multiplayer experience.

Actually, the Halo 4 maps only take about 1.5 GB, and I’ve played with only a GB left before. The problem is that a lot of people have the basic slim model, which comes with only “4” GB of memory (system stuff makes it less than 3.5).
Although flash drives are extremely common, and just to be sure, since the packs are different sizes, we can require them only in the playlists that use them, and some playlists will forever be free for people with various reasons not to have the DLC, or someone who just bought the game and had to install the Halo 4 maps doesn’t have to wait for 4 more downloads…
