How Come The Water In Halo 3 Is Way Better?

First off, I just played Halo 3 and I couldn’t believe that on Valhalla the water looks WAY better than in Halo 4. Lame.

Secondly, since my other post got buried Sanctuary and more forge maps NEED to be integrated into the playlists. Make it happen.

Thirdly, I just had some chicken and waffle lays chips and, damn, they fine.

To be fair most of the textures in all the halo games look better than halo 4, the only good thing about halo 4 was the fact they finally added dynamic lighting.

Agreed. On the level Requiem, there is a patch of water that moves when you step in it and looks amazing. Besides that the water sucks.

Also agreed. Love remakes.

Lastly, never had them.

yea because that dynamic lighting is so worth the compromised gameplay due to FPS lag. not.

They sacrificed the beautiful water for other things, most notably the lighting and textures. Remember, there’s only so much that you can do with a 7 year old console, so none of these things should be an issue in next-gen Halo games.

It actually used to be really good but they had to cut it down. May 21st!

Spartans don’t even float down streams anymore. :frowning:

I missed going for a stroll on Valhalla and seeing my enemies’ corpses float gently down the stream into the ocean.

With all these new and more detailed graphical features of Halo 4, they had to cut back on something.

I was fooling around on Longshore the other day, and was astounded to see how much better the water looked and the water physics were than in Halo 4. I fondly remember Infection variants utilizing the little orange inflatable boat. I went to Forge Island and was very disquieted to be reminded of the flat, opaque, still, picture water. Oh well, I’m sure Halo 5 will be better.

They focused on more on the lighting than other aspects of the graphics. This is why there is the drop in quality of the water and other things.

Firstly, that is true water is more real in halo 3 7 reach, reach only because the glitch part there caused crates to float.

Second. Indeed:

Third, no, ewww, ewww, siracha is better. Who thought of putting breakfast meal with a lunch meal was a good idea…yuck ten fold.

Siracha on the other hand was good, & cheesy garlic bread should stay at pizza places or made in the oven at home, not on a chip.

Siracha was quite good as well. The garlic bread was my least favorite.

Chickn’Waffles 4evr

I can’t find em’ where I live :frowning:

  1. Never really paid attention. That’s weird, though.

  2. I agree. Most of the on-disc maps are really bad. I’d love to see Sanctuary/Asylum back!

  3. Chicken and Waffle? What will they think of next? I might try them just to see. I can’t imagine how they get them to taste like chicken AND waffles. I think Cheesy Garlic Bread sounds better, though.

At one point I started walking along a body that was floating and going “Float float float your body, gently down the stream! Merrily merrily merrily merrily, eat my laser beam!”

Nobody laughed >_<

OT: Yeah, it’s pretty unfortunate. Makes forging water maps impossible when the water is just a hard blue solid texture.

The water in Forge Island looks like glass, lol.

Detailed graphics? Like the low res phantom or the backgrounds? Or the blurry textures? The only thing that Halo 4 excels in is it’s lighting engine. And that one is a little over used.

I have talked to the lead level artist about this. He said that is because the water in halo 3 had physics and in 4 they had to cut down due to memory. They had to get rid of some things to allow other things to work.

The tech got better and they need to use it for other things. Halo 3 tech wasnt as good so they could make things look better without the memory being completely hogged up.

Halo 3 didnt have nearly as much stuff as halo 4. Just wait for halo 5 when they have way way more memory to work with. Im sure in halo 5 we will see footprints in the snow again, water physics, more detailed environment and just more stuff in general.

“oh and the lead level designer is Vic Deleon” I wont a contest awhile ago so thats why i know this.

BLurry textures? I’m sorry are you talking about Halo 4 or Reach? Reach had the low-res backgrounds and blurry textures, NOT Halo 4. I understand you may not be fond of the game but you’d be ignorant to say Halo 4 doesn’t have some of the nicest visuals found on the console.

The phantom and other less-notable things (like water mechanics) HAVE to be low-res/featureful to not allow frame rate stuttering because of how many resources Halo 4 utilizes.

My body is so ready for next gen though. If the 720 uses dual-layer Blu-Ray the amount of data available on next-gen will bumb from around 8gb to 50 GIGS!

This means:

  • More features (Playable elites, better water, more vehicles, ect.)
  • More detail
  • Longer Campaign
