How CE & 2C customization should evolve

  • Visors.
  • Weapon skins.
  • Vehicle skins.
  • More colours.
  • Secondary and Tertiary colour sections.
  • Playable CE Elites in CE.
  • In 2C, make all the Elite variants from Campaign playable.
  • Armour Skins. Take advantage of the fact that there’s only the one default unchangeable model. For example. camo variations or a Mister Chief visor with a drawn crayon look to the textures.

A few suggestions for brand new player models:

  • ‘Master Keyes’ the standard multiplayer Spartan but with a clear visor and Keyes head inside.
  • ‘Demon’ multiplayer Spartan that’s been demon-ified, horns jutting out helmet etc.
  • ‘Stan’ Elite with a Grunt gas tank on his back, Grunt gas mask in his mandibles, Grunt armour pieces strapped on.
  • ‘Infected’ Floodified versions of Spartans and Elites.

While I would appreciate greater customization in the older titles, I don’t think they should focus on them. Visor, weapon, and vehicle skins already offer a lot of personalization. If I had to guess anything beyond that would require a serious rework of a number of systems within the respective titles. Effort I would rather see in the netcode.

Sure, I’d rather they work on something more important like the netcode too. But this isn’t a pick one shoot the other scenario. I really don’t think it would require as much focus as you’re suggesting.

Why not go beyond this?

Imagine it

Halo CE Cosmetic Options for Spartan Players could be -

  • Mark IV
  • Mark V
  • Mark V Bravo
  • Orion

Halo 2 Spartan Armor Options could be -

  • Mark IV
  • Mark V
  • Mark V Bravo
  • Mark VI
  • S.P.I. Mk.I
  • S.P.I. Mk.II
  • ODST

Halo 2 Elite Armor Options could be -

  • Minor
  • Major
  • Heretic
  • Honor Guard
  • Councilor
  • Arbiter

Plenty of options to fit the time period

its because even then there’s still more important areas to clean up visually in the pre-existing customization than there is in trying to implent new features into stable games. (Best example being Halo 3, where the Halo Online Elite armor is still missing the proper waist on all the sets, and the Mark VI is still in dire need of an update to the H2A Campaign model to remove the pillar shoulders bug and improve parity with the new sets)

Again, I agree there’s more important things than cosmetics that need doing but I don’t think it’s one or the other.

P.S. A bunch of the H3 shoulders are currently broken.
