How can we better the Assault rifle?

I have recently purchased Halo CE: Anniversary.

Upon playing the Multiplayer that came with it, I’ve noticed the abundance of pistol usage.

I’m a…“All-Around” guy when it comes to video games. I’ve never been generally placed in one area of combat.

What I’m basically getting at is not specifically the Assault Rifle, but weapons that see no usage.

Halo Reach has a great sort of weapons that never get used due to them being so ineffective.

How can we make them “Better?”

-Maybe slow down the bloom rate on the Assault Rifle?

-Increase damage for low-usage weapons like the Focus Rifle?

Many things could be changed. I know nothing is ever perfect, but everything can be improved in some shape or form.

So, how can we improve our experience?

Focus rifle is OP, so DON’T EVEN TRY suggesting to make it more powerful.

I would like to see the bloom of the AR increase exponentially so that it becomes a little bit more useful to burst-shoot with it then to just go pedal-to-the-metal. That might also increase the effective range of it too, which I personally would like to see. Not to the extent of the pistol, but just a little bit more then at the moment.

The best way would be to reduce aim assist and buff up ALL weapons. A skill based weapon SHOULD beat the AR at close range if and only if the precision weapon takes more skill to use than currently.

The reduction in aim assist would have very little effect on the AR but would make using the BR far more skill based. This would lead to the AR winning far more encounters with bad to medium skilled players with only good players being able to constantly out-shoot them.

Increase the damage on the AR. Like in the original copy of Halo: CE, in MP, the AR took 16 rounds to kill, that would make a half a mag in Reach multiplayer. Vs the OP pistol, this would work really good.

Well seeing as it’s the Anniversary playlist, let’s start with giving the weapons the correct ammo amount

Strange, your probably the only one who thinks that. Most people think the Focus Rifle as the “assist gun”.

How is it OP? You can’t get a kill with it unless they stand still long enough for it to cool down or they are already injured.

You’re not doing it right.

AR of Halo 3 was good, CQC was fast paced and fun.

Reduce the OP weapons. Done.

> Reduce the OP weapons. Done.

sad…but true.

Give it a 60 round magazine. P.S. I they actually do it I will never play Reach again.

what would work is maybey making a 60-round version of the AR to make it more useful AND more CE like

The AR needs to do ALOT more damage, but bloom and kick ALOT more to compensate. Basically I should feel like it absolutely DESTROYS up close, but farther away it becomes useless.

Kinda like Gears 3’s Retro Lancer.

Obviously you suck with it. I can usually down 3 guys without overheating it for a triple kill. It’s all a matter of having good aim, and taking short breaks from fire (usually best to do right after a shield is drained).

But it’s also not overpowered. The only players that can remotely use the thing have practiced ALOT with it, and earned the ability to use it as the POWER WEAPON so many people forget it is.

But ultimately it should always end like this: MORE POWER, MORE EASILY PUNISHED.

The FR deserves to be much stronger, but at the cost of a much faster overheat. That way it kills fast enough to be a power weapon, but missing also makes a much larger difference between killing, or overheating.

60 rounds and an amazing fire rate, like originally.

This is an absolute must for Halo 4
