Without wanting to spoil it for anyone (if you havent finished the campaign you shouldnt be reading this forum page) but with the master chief no longer having cortana- to me HALO IS master chief and cortana killing aliens and protecting earth. And with the master chief removing his armour for the fist time in over 4 years (according to the books). How can the series continue for another two games?

Ok now I was hoping someone had a thought on her survival- I just dont have a hypothesis- I trust you do?
I suppose it possible if cortana survived he might too- at the end of the game didnt he fall (maybe dead already)but didnt he fall into the “composers” well?- What I mean by that is he might have been composed before he actually died so he could return as a corrupted “thing” for the next game

He’s immune to the composer, it’s stated in the terminals.
I’m going to run through the game on legendary and see the legendary ending before I speculate on where I think things are going.
Well first of all Cortana said “Welcome home John.”
Watch the cutscene with the Librarian closely. I think that will be the key to the possiblity of Cortana’s return. THe forrunners tried to bridge the gap between the biological and the digital. I think that there might be something in that as well as the fact that Cortana’s chip was inside Chief’s neural implant at the time she evolved him. It is possile that Cortana might be made human eventually.
Or the whole point was to show how Chief delt with the loss of some one who knoew him so intimately
I would assume Chief is going to be debriefed and receive new armor (Mjolnir mk. 8 maybe). That is my reasoning for him having his armor removed. Plus if anyone in the Halo universe has earned down time it would be Chief, but then again he was made for war so down time might not be the best for him.
I think they will focus on chief and The storm covenants in halo5 maybe releasing the flood once more.

Who says that the chief is being retired? Just because his armour is being removed, doesn’t mean he’ll be removed from active service. He’s not been out of that armour for more than 4 years, he’s goin to want to get out of it for a little while.
THE LEGENDART ending isnt any good its boring compared to the other legendary endings is only his eyes at the end of the normal cuscene after the credits
This is Sci-Fi, with some borderline mystical elements.
The Rule of Sci-Fi Deaths states that NO character is EVER dead unless you specifically see them die, and even then, they are NOT dead unless they have been decapitated. And EVEN THEN, they are STILL likely not dead.
Cortana is an AI, and she never “DIED” specifically. We just know that she “won’t be coming with you”. There are plenty of Sci-Fi ways to bring her back.

She could become metastable, in which she becomes “sain” again and basically achieving human level independance and self view.
