I noticed that there are already players walking around with this burning head customization, or there is this skull effect when I got killed.
Don’t you have to reach basically “level 100” to get this stuff?
Since we all know how slow progression is, I just can’t imagine that someone played THIS MUCH.
But I also can’t imagine someone bought so many XP level ups in the store. Must be around 150-200$ - just for a f#§king digital item. Nobody can be this silly
Or was there some other way to get it? A special sale? Did they exploit some XP mining tricks?
Paying, that’s about the only way to get it at the moment.
Also, last time I checked, about 0.15% of everyone who has atleast started Halo Infinite has the burning head effect.
And yes, there are people who spend that amount of money to skip levels.
On the day Infinite released, or the day after, 0.04% of everyone who had started Infinite, completed the battlepass.
But sheesh, I guess I got killed by Justin Bieber or some other rich kid then.
(I actually like the thought that every player with lvl 100 Battlepass items is basically a real life Superstar in disguise, just blowing off some steam )
If you have access to checking your Xbox achievements, highlightning any of them will showcase a percentage down in the left corner. That’s a measurement on how many players have unlocked the achievement.
For instance, there are “diamond” achievements which sound different and have an extra diamond in the unlocking animation.
That’s automated to happen when 10% or less have unlocked an achievement, so, if you’re early on a game then mostly every achievement you unlock will be the diamong one, even the insultingly easy ones like starting a tutorial and so forth.
Meh, I’m suspecting it’s more people who have a lot of disposable income. Some people blow 1000 dollars on Fifa a month, or what the devs said regarding one of the Gears of Wars, some players spending 15 000 the first month on MTXs in whatever GoW it was, probably GoW 4.
As for seeing them, I’ve seen one or two, both which got annihilated badly.
One was on my team and that player constantly ran straight into the enemy team. The other was on the opposing team, suiciding zones and whatnot.
I mean, 200 wouldn’t be impossible world for me to spend on getting lvl 100, but I don’t think it’s sensible and I can spend it on a whole lot of other things. Not super rich, but still not poor poor.
First of all: Sorry if that statement offended someone. Wasn’t meant to be personal
However: What irritates me in this case is not how people “play” the game since I wouldn’t call buying credits “playing” (It’s literally nothing else but online shopping).
I’m more wondering why people are willing to spend this much money for something that isn’t “real”. Most of the time you can’t even see it on your own because of the ego-perspective. You could have a really nice dinner in a restaurant, buy a new headset, new shoes, new couch, invest in Dogecoin, buy a gift for your parents or partner, or even donate instead. And I’m really wondering this out of curiosity, to understand what moves such people.
Just because an item isn’t physical doesn’t mean it has no value, this isn’t to justify a $200 fast-pass on a season pass, but some things like Pre-order bonuses and digital deluxe items hold more value to people than some real world items ever could, emotional investments and that sort of thing, I personally could care less about half the items you listed. Again, this isn’t to justify wasting $200 on things you unlock eventually (I’m already at rank 52), but people have different values for different items, real or not.
I don’t really disagree, but even if you say “XY has an emotional value to me”, you should be able to explain this value.
For example, you can say “My father gave it to me” or “I bought it on vacation, and it always reminds me…”.
I would argue that the emotional value of a digital item would be even grater if you earn it through leveling up. This way you connect a story to it, and it’s an actual reward.
Again, this wasn’t to justify people spending $200 on cosmetics they unlock eventually. I was just pointing out that whether or not it’s digital or physical is irrelevant.
They can and they will spend that kind of money, and it’s not even a new thing for Halo!
I got a Halo Reach LE console when it was released, and it came with a code for the flaming helmet (which at the time I believe was exclusive to the console package). Anyway, the console developed a fault within a couple of days, and I managed to return it for a replacement, which included another code for the helmet.
I put that code on eBay, $1 start, and it sold 7 days later for almost $100.
Fools and their money are easily parted, and that is as true today as it was over a decade ago.
If you bought some cases of Rockstar prior to the soft launch and then 343 effectively doubled the 2XP. (although 2XP is cheapest through the store at $0.50 per XP/Swap IIRC) You have a decent amount of coverage.
I’m like 75 with 2XP and PBP, so technically that’s $28 + $26ish (if it’s 2x 2XP and 2x Swap for 200 units/$2USD), but that’s just burning the Rockstar boosts I had. Rockstar swap bundles are ridiculous
So with that knowledge, I would say best value is just getting the standard BP and NOT buying 2XP until the end of the season if you need to finish some levels. Although technically the $2 to buy a level makes sense on paper, I don’t like the concept and I think you’re better off spending those $2 on the XP/Swap bundle and playing the game.
Even then
I would just say don’t buy any 2XP if you’re going to be playing the game regularly for at least a chunk of the season.
Like we’re entering week 3, so remove 2XP and make it 6 weeks (not even factoring in the extra challenges). Then lets say you have some weeks off + the new game effect wears off = Let’s say 9-12 weeks. Although this is mostly based on BEFORE they added the daily matches boost in XP
I feel like the legendary items shouldn’t be just unlocked through the BP.
After you hit level cap, then you get legendary challenges you have to complete to unlock your flaming pay2lose VFX glamor stuff.
I’m “close.” I think I’m level 61 last I looked? I jumped a good 10+ levels yesterday stacking boosts with the new dailies and challenge reset. Granted I did buy the BP bundle with 25 levels. But I don’t think we are too far off from seeing people who have legitimately ground them out.
