I mean how is it possible that Spartans waste energy and space (and time) to play Grifball in the Holo-deck or all the other mini-games such as this?
XD

Quite frankly if I was a Spartan I would do nothing but play Speed Halo. It looks brilliant.

Maybe its what they do after lunch time .
It is what they do in their free time, sadly they are stuck in their armor all the time…
To pass time???
Probably just to stay on edge. Hone skills. That kinda thing.
> To pass time???
War-games and S-ops take place 6 months after the events of Halo 4.
how can Spartans have free time after all the crazy things that happened on the planet?

We never know…
People are thinking about this too much, you don’t need to wrap your head around everything.(That includes all the stuff about the Chief’s armor) All you need to understand is that MP takes place on Infinity and its supposed to be training exercises and Spartan Ops is your spartan going out on missions. You dont need to worry about how griffball and race fits in.

All YOU need to understand is that this is supposed to be a fun thread.

Im sorry its been a long night. I really thought this was another “WTF 343 don’t make sense! :<” threads. Continue with your fun.
One of the trailers/announcements said that the multplayer was basically simulation for Spartans aboard the Infinity. The other game modes could just be for fun for the Spartans.
Well, Matchmaking is where the Spartans train. That’s the story part of multiplayer anyway. I don’t think Custom Games and Forge are part of the story.
I think running around with an explosive, dodging madmen wielding hammers and swords, from one end of a room to the other is a great exercise program.
Works out the calves, and keeps the pecs from sagging. And can also be a great team-building program.

Grifball IS in matchmaking.

Every soldier needs downtime. You can’t be training all the time.
You never know what kind of experience you’ll need in the field.
Why do people in real life waste time and energy playing Paintball, and Laser Tag.
FUN.
Lol, its very true
everyone needs a little casual gameplay now and then to loosen up and have some laughs. But I figure for the most part the differences if your looking for story aspects is that Multiplayer/Matchmaking take place at some point before your Spartan Ops missions begin, since Multiplayer/Matchmaking becomes more of a warm up before the mess really hits the fan during the missions. In reality I dont think of Spartan IVs as much different from the everyday person, all have lived lives at some point before joining the military and there perspectives are in general different from that of a Spartan II such as John. I’ve never really seen John as they basketball playing type much less the mini game type lol but the others I imagine arent much different from us in general.
all military personnel need some downtime or will become unhinged or crazy ( and yes that includes spartans they are super soldiers but still human ) something like griffball would train them physically and still be fun enough to offer a reprieve from actual combat
