I have read that Halo Infinite will be a much simpler story that really only follows the Chief. But after Halo 5’s ending as well as Halo Wars 2’s ending, how can this be so?
We are left with Spartan Locke, Spartan Palmer, the Arbiter, Master Chief, and Halsey all at one place. The doctor, can’t remmeber her name right now for the life of me, on a halo ring with a guardian, and the Infinity seemingly on the run indefinitely.I would like to know your thoughts and ideas.
Prologue-scenery
Beginning-walk to warthog
Middle-hold X to enter warthog
End-entered warthog
Epilogue-drive off with marine
Legendary Epilogue- drive off with ODSTs

Halo 5 was suppose to be “the darkest halo yet” later we found out that the h5 beta used a dark color pallet.
The game supposedly will be taking place in 2560, so that would be about two years after Halo 5 ended (assuming the date found in the engine demo was intentionally put there as a clue). Given that time skip, it would be fairly easy to find ways to gloss over those other characters and focus on the Chief’s fight against the Created two years into the war.
Btw, the doctor at the end of Halo Wars 2 is Professor Ellen Anders.
If you haven’t read Bad Blood yet, then that will answer all your questions about Blue Team, Osiris, and Halsey being stuck on Sanghelios at the end of the game. It will also give you a better idea of what the Infinity’s plans are going forward.

Just because there’s a lot going on in the galaxy right now doesn’t mean H6 will focus on all of it at once. That’s a recipe for disaster in my opinion that will fail like H5 did on that front unless the game is hella long, like 20+ hours. I’m hoping it’ll focus on one plot point.

I can completely agree with you on that standpoint, I didn’t mean that I wanted it to be complex I enjoy a simpler story with one plot point because a story doesn’t have to be complex to be good. I think I’m just having trouble wrapping my head around the idea that it CAN be simple, with everything else going on in the sense of that I felt like the end of Halo 5 set up Halo 6 to have all the same characters and adress all the same plot points, of course I have to take into account that Infinite will be taking place in 2560.

Yeah it’s been two years, a lot can happen in that time.

I’ll get some flaming for this, but H3 proves you wrong. Not that it sucked, but compared to what H2 did and set up it certainly didn’t really deliver in the story department. I think what H2 did is what Infinite should aim for, ideally.
I’m just a bit afraid that 343i has too many story threads laid out and they’ll want to tie too many things together in a single game. If we’re lucky they’re skipping the reliance on transmedial storytelling, as H5 proved that sort of sucked but they’d still need to bring in a lot of different characters and story archs to make Infinite feel like a logical continuation of what came before.
This actually worries me a little, I just hope that by “simple story” they don’t mean a forgettable story just to go “safe”. I actually liked Halo 4 story so I was quite disappointed when I first played Halo 5, but anyway I just hope is a good story.

“Less chance” implies a lower probability of sucking, not that it won’t suck, or that a simpler story will definitely be better than a more complex one. Halo 2 having a better story than Halo 3 doesn’t prove the statement wrong.
Besides, intuitively it makes sense: juggling around less interconnected story threads allows you to create a more focused narrative. Not to mention that in a time limited format like a Halo campaign it leaves you with more time to deal with character development, handle pacing, and ensure that the player stays on track. More is of course needed to tell a great story, but a simpler story has less chances of screwing up the basics. Again, emphasis on the probabilistic “less chances”: a simpler story doesn’t guarantee that you won’t make mistakes.
Spectacle Creep is a hard thing and it has plugged 343 since H4. Halo 1-3 already had some pretty big stakes, Save earth from being glassed, which of course were raised to save the galaxy from getting eaten by the flood as soon as they were let out of the proverbial bag. H4 was supposedly no flood but they still needed the stakes so it was save Cortona which later became save Earth and humanity from being transformed into cybernetic robot warriors (we are the Borg, resistance is futile). Then Halo 5 became find Cortona who just did a Star Trek 3 but one where Spock not his brother is taking you to meet God, without the benefit of whales.
So the story so far, I would not be surprised if they break it into two parts. One to fix the H5 and HW 2 ending, and maybe bring back the flood or some other related enemy to reignite the ancient war between the Forerunners and the Primordial, and then later bring it all to a conclusion. Then again, I would also not be surprised if they did try to wrap it all up in the next game.
Honestly, just make it very similar to Halo CE. Don’t go to crazy on the story just make simple for all fans new and old to understand and enjoy. I think that’s one of 343’s problems is they try to cram too much in one game or don’t put enough. If they just make the game fun and still follow the story of Halo 5 but with a simplified formula then I expect Halo Infinite to do really good.
