Since the halo community is split in 2 how can 343 appeal to both sides with the new game?
I think they should bring back classic gameplay to ranked playlists, but they should keep abilities in social playlists. With social playlists there could be social/casual ranked team arena (basically halo 5 team arena with improvements) and with that they could allow casual e-sports to be a thing.
…and than they have to create two sandboxes and bla bla bla. It’s always the same discussion! The only good solution I’ve read around for having both styles is to stick to classic as the base - so no sprint or any other advanced movement as a base mechanic - and reintroduce SA and/or AA as equipment on the map. I don’t even want to go into the details because every second post here recently seems to have transformed into a modular vs full advanced movement discussion lately!

They have a new engine, pretty easy with that.plus they have a year and 2 months for a 2019 release. And the pick up idea with jetpacks and sprint is not well liked(tried it myself to convince people)
I say modern classic which is H2A

It’s not though. The engine has nothing to do with the sandbox of the game itself. Balancing and level design go way beyond the technicality of the software the game runs on.
It would be interesting to see ranked & social with different mechanics, but maps would have to be laid out different to allow for this. Judging by how H5 maps are all reskins of each other for the most part, I don’t see this happening.
It should start with the h5 armour styles, but then Cortana will win the initial fight and so the UNSC will be forced to use the old tech, from h3, because all the new tech has been destroyed. The music style could also change when the armour style switches from the current to the classic music

In the HI demo trailer you can see the H5G scouthog and BRs, so not everything is going back to halo 3 stuff. Also any gen1 armor that can have a A.I in it can still be hacked. And I highly don’t every spartan IV armor will just be gone so we will most likely see S-IV armors in game.
You can’t, their needs are too divergent in terms of design and balance. Even if you double everything, IE one classic map for every modern map and so on, it is still going to leave one group or another(or both) disappointed.
Halo 5 is already an example of compromise holding everyone back. Arena is compromised by the needs of Warzone and Warzone is held back by the needs of Arena and ‘classic’ sensibilities in general.
The best thing for everyone would be for 343 to put their foot down and say definitively one way or the other. Either admit they were wrong and state their focus will be on more ‘classic’ Halo, or Stand firm and state that sprint, abilities, and ‘modern’ Halo are hear to stay. It will be better for everyone if nobody is strung along by promises to “make everybody happy” that they can’t keep.
I totally understand the instinct to try and compromise and come together, but it just leaves the design muddled and confused.

Who said that they have to design it?
Let the forge experts do that.

The community is split in more ways than two from my point of view. I’m not really bothered about classic v current style. If there are abilities going forward I view them as something to adapt to, if they exclude them I have to adapt to not using them.
I want a fun Halo game with all the trimmings, if 343i put back what has been removed and give us a complete Halo game at launch I’ll be a very happy Halo fan. I want to have fun and I don’t want to grind for rng reqs to get unlocks etc.

Well, if we get full control over strafe, ammunition, damage output, bullet magnetism, aiming system, projectile vs. hitscan, position of reticle, recoil and so on.
…
…
I was going to make a sarcastic statement, but frankly yeah. Why not actually? X’D

Forge is not a replacement for dev made maps. Its not just about maps either, its about weapon balance, vehicle balance, the entire design philosophy surrounding every aspects of the game. Their needs are too different to reconcile in a satisfactory way.
They can’t.
Sprint and no sprint can’t coexist on the same maps.
I say scrap the 2 and make it where I fly in spartan no guns.
obvisously a joke.
but to combine the 2? I’d say it would have to be what reach implemented in a sense. Have pick ups for abilities. Keep sprint universal and just disable it for comp if the maps are better with no sprint. Keep clamber imo.
Something like that possibly?
Didn’t you already make this type of thread?
Like I said in your other thread, why do the classic mechanics have to be limited to the ranked or competitive playlists when casual playlists can also be played on classic settings?

I know this might sound weird but I don’t think it can work…it be like trying to put Pineapple on a Pizza, expecting most people to put up with it just because someone else at a party likes pineapple but we all know Pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza. So the thing about Halo is 343i had some fans thinking Halo 5 was going to cater to both classic, modern fans but in the end it mainly just end up catering to the modern fans while Infinite looks like there trying to see if classic Halo will do better but the thing is once again if they try to appeal to both…I’m pretty sure it could lead to one side of the fan-base being upset over the direction.
There’s already a thread on this.
