I’m concerned about whether or not Halo Infinite will feature theatre for campaign. With the game being labelled as semi open world and more expansive than the previous two combined, I fear campaign theatre will be absent yet again. Surely both Halo 4 and 5 could have had it, but didn’t. Now, with Halo Infinite seemingly going a different direction with it’s campaign and the possibility that we may not be selecting the missions in the traditional method of a mission select menu, it really does look like it may not be in the game.
During the Halo Infinite campaign demo, a map is brought up and here one can see that when the player hovered over the objective, ‘X to start mission’ appeared at the bottom of the screen. Now, I have no idea what that actually means. Maybe it just prioritises that particular objective, or maybe it actually is it’s own thing. Then again, it could be something else entirely. However, to me that means campaign works differently now and thus theatre will likely not be present for campaign. The fact that it was not in Halo 4 and 5 doesn’t help and only serves to reinforce my fears.
I personally wish for campaign theatre to be included. I loved it in Halo 3, ODST and Reach despite the latter not featuring English speaking Covenant. If anyone wishes to present their thoughts on why theatre may or may not be present in Infinite, perhaps we can shed some light on the subject or at the very least, remind 343 that it exists.
I never used theater much in campaign. I used it all the time in multiplayer though. I loved creating clips of great plays and crazy/random stuff. This could be equally applicable to campaign though. I’m not sure how it all works, but it doesn’t seem all the difficult to implement if theater is included for multiplayer. Maybe it is a problem of things not being fully loaded in for the entire campaign arena. But the camera would just be able to follow the players around with limited range? I don’t know, I’m ignorant of these types of features and their technical hurdles.
I hope it comes back. They’re using a new technology with incredible power, that I think it can handle a theatre now. For Halo 4 and 5 the only way to have a "“theatre” is to activate the blind skull, hop on with someone for co-op to at least take some screenshots, but you are still very limited of what you can do.
If possible, it’d be cool to have at least a photo mode, (which I think is mandatory in pretty much any game nowadays) so content creators can use it.

Yes, you are right about the new technology. They made a brand new engine for Halo Infinite, so I’m sure theatre can work. In fact, I came across an article related to the campaign demo, and it had one or two screenshots that look like they may have made use of this mode. Of course, it could just be developer powers, but there is always hope.
What I don’t quite understand is why Halo 4 and 5 didn’t feature campaign theatre. Those games could have had it, surely?
