Halo has been quite dormant for a while, and being a fan, I want it to succeed. 343 said that Halo infinite will appeal to new and old players, how do you think they could close the gap?
Edit: sprint has been criticized alot, it should be swapped for 120% bms
I believe Halo is dormant because it’s been over 2 and a half years since the last release, and at least a year since the last new content update. Once Infinite comes out, I’m sure it will be back to full force. Honestly, the only thing it needs in my opinion to woo both new and old players is solid gameplay, so as long as they take their time and do it right, whether it be classic or new halo rules, I think it will succeed.

Yea I agree, hope it can blend classic and new mechanics
I think 343i needs to focus on not just the diehard Halo fans, but for anyone who is new to the Halo scene and just stick to the core gameplay. What I mean by that is 343 should not try to copy other games to drag players from that game to lay their game. For example, Halo 4’s multiplayer is just like CoD. You have a create-a-class option, permanent sprint, killstreaks (ordnance), and they even have CoD controls (Fishstick).

Do you mean MCC? H5 didn’t have a lot of playlists at launch, but I didn’t think it was a disaster.
For the OP, that’s the million dollar question. In my opinion, I don’t think what they’ve been doing so far has been working so why not go back to something that has a proven itself as a success? We don’t need an original clone, but the next game could certainly lean more on the classic side of things.

How did micro transactions take away from the game? Everything was unlocked at random regardless of whether you paid or played for packs. Micro transactions are actually a good thing because they finance the Free dlc. I don’t want to go back to the days of paid dlc that splits the community into haves and have-nots.

Dormant indeed since 3 years is the usual lifespan but it looks like it will be longer. They have already confirmed split screen which is good. Bring back the iconic BR, enough of this pistol nonsense. I think they will bring back a more progression/achievement based unlock system when it comes to armour (hopefully), I hope req packs are gone but I can see them returning. They will probably include the armour abilities again but may leave a few out or tinker with them a bit so they aren’t so OP or keep them to certain playlists only. Going back to the roots of campaign. Although a lot of the community im sure enjoy the MP, there is a huge base of players that enjoy the Campaign & what it has to offer. I feel they have to make up for H5s lack of one imo.

The micro transactions didn’t bother me one bit, & the free DLC was great. I have unlocked essentially everything in the game & haven’t put a cent into the game. Just have to be patient & know the most efficient unlock process.
They can fix Halo by getting rid of sprint and abilities and bring back the classic gameplay. They should also bring back the REAL Firefight and add AI to Forge.

Exactly my point. I get free DLC, the people who want to pay to get things faster can, and 343 makes money. Everybody wins!
Halo 4 campaign was the most emotional in the series for me. If they can make Infinite at least as emotional as 4, then it will be a success. There was a fundamental change between 3 and 4, the chief started talking a lot more. That’s good.
Also bring back fuel wielding and all the Brute weapons and vehicles please

I take it neither of u guys were around when Armor was unlocked by achievments. Personally I’d rather go back to the customization of halo CE than have an overinflated loot box pay to win req system. I get new age gamers don’t know what it was like to not have microtransaction and loot boxes, but believe me those were better days. And it didn’t take 80hrs of grind to unlock a standard load out weapon (dmr)

I dont think that was the question at hand. Ive been around since H3 so i know what you mean. I absolutley would love yo see a progression/achievement based reward system for unlocks be brought back. I found it way more satisfying completing certain achievments or challeneges (vidmaster) & knowing what i was going to get for doing so.
I just think we may get some of that mixed in with loot boxes still. Im not sure how, but i wouldnt be suprised. Loot boxes are cash cows.

You don’t care that the armor doesn’t mean anything anymore? Could be argued one of the more fun parts of Halo customization, yet you seem to advocate for a pay2play environment. The most iconic Halo armor sets have been unlocked through linear paths. Say what you want, but Wetwork will never be on the level with Hayabusa or Recon while randomness still exists in the progression and rewards systems.

I personally want to be able to unlock armor with challanges rather than randomly getting it.

343 can make money by having the players purchase packs with all the bad armors in it, but please please no weapons in packs.
