How can 343 celebrate a failure???

I don’t get it. I really don’t. This absolutely blows my mind.

Every single article I read, or am pointed toward about 343, is nothing but them celebrating or patting themselves on the back over this “miracle”. Champagne bottles popping, a toast to a job well done, and three cheers over gathering up a bunch of people who don’t like Halo, to make a Halo game.

… and what we have as a result is an absolute failure.

Halo is what, 5 parts at this point?

  • Campaign: was solid! it lacked, not nearly as epic as the original trilogy, but what COULD be at this point?
  • Spartan OPs: great idea, but unplayable online for most, hence the playlists consisting of like 100-250 people. There likely won’t be a Season 2 as a result of this.
  • Multiplayer: it’s atrocious. the issues are endless. If this game dropped back in Homer’s day (that Greek dude who wrote the Iliad) and he were tasked with writing poems about them, he’d still be writing three milleniums later.
  • Forge: what in the world is this? where did the options go? WTF are these miniature maps to build on?
  • Custom Games: an entire community was axed because of the lack of input in this mode … seriously?

Where is the miracle? What is there to celebrate? Reach was steps backward from Halo, and still held 100k online after 12 months … and this thing is down to like 25% of that after just 6 months??

This game is like the Vanilla Ice of today’s FPS genre. Seriously … everybody but Ice knew he was a joke back then, just like everybody now realizes this game is awful except the people who created it, and are constantly bragging in every interview.

P.S. - It took Vanilla Ice about 5 years to figure out that he was getting laughed at throughout his short, embarrassing career. How long will it take 343? I’m praying it’s before H5!

They are already plainly aware of their shortcomings.

Fixes have been in the works for a while now.

The game is not a failure, and is a fun, welcome addition to the series.

They added several things they shouldn’t have. But that doesn’t make the game bad. It just makes it not as good as it should have been, or even as good as other Halo games.

Just like many other people in these forums you greatly overexaggerate.

>

So do I… But I have given up hoping; I will just get disapointed again…

Halo 3.2 is all I want, nothing else; No sprint, no armor abilities, no loadouts, and no “improve my this and that stuff”… Oh and no DMR crap… just the good old BR were you have to lead your shots to make them land.

Skill gap in Halo 3 → |1---------------------------------------50--------------|
Skill gap in Halo R → …|20-----------40|
Skill gap in Halo 4 → …|20-----------40|

And while we’re at it, there needs to be a Brute Shot and Chopper in the game!!

Fix…ees? The game can’t be fixed D:
It’s evedently not so fun if there’s so relatively few playing the game.
“added several things they shouldn’t have” Bingo.
“But that doesn’t make the game bad” Yes it does.
“Just like many other people in these forums you greatly overexaggerate.” It can’t be over exaggerated :S

campaign, I love
Spartan ops, I love

multiplayer, terrible, I play for completion but it really lacks the halo element

forge, don’t forge much now but, I don’t see much problems there

custom games, don’t play em, but I understand people have issues

theatre, not available for campaign or Spartanops, but understandable

its just multiplayer aspects I don’t like

> “Just like many other people in these forums you greatly overexaggerate.” It can’t be over exaggerated :S

I hope you see the irony of that statement. And OP is also exaggerating greatly.

8 Million plus sales, that’s how!

MM is such a small part of the Haloverse. The majority, some six million or so, never played Halo 4 MM at all, perhaps more! The way some people carry on you would think, wrongly, that MM is the be all and end all of Halo, it is not. The remaining Halos will sell millions of copies, the books and other merchandise will continue to do well, and Halo will continue to evolve; not be a clone of some prior Halo 3.

No, the nay sayers, doom mongers and false prophets, can not rewrite history. Halo is alive and well. A small part of Halo, that being MM, may not be fairing so well but, it is doing fine in this modern age of gaming, and for a SciFi one at that, with the hundreds of other XBox game it has to compete against.

Oh yeah now I see ahahahahaha!

I hope you caught the irony.

Hmm it sold that many copies because of it’s title… And I reckon those 6million “or so” who didn’t even try Halo 4 MM at all were thinking just like me: “It’s not even worth giving it a try after having played through the campaign”… Not to mention there’s no even any ranked play lists. Many people just logged on MM only to discover there were no ranked play lists and so they just turned off the game.

Because despite what people try to say about the game it is a huge success.

They only people that cry about this game are the ones who are afraid of change. Look at reach for example up until halo 4 came about people did nothing but complain about everything that was different from halo 3. But now reach is being considered a good game not because halo 4 has made them see how good it is but because they have grown accustomed to the said changes.

IMO every halo game plays as good as the last sure halo 4 has its faults but every game does i mean come on this is the first halo game 343 have made so ofcourse they will make mistakes give them a break.

and you know why 343 doesnt listen to the community it could have something to do with the fact all the community does is cry about this being changed and that being changed, that weapon kills me too fast and my fave weapon doesnt kill fast enough, wha wha wha.

give 343 a chance to fix what is blatantly wrong but dont expect them to change things just to make the MM just like an old halo this is halo 4 not halo 3 not halo reach.

Just learn to live with it and we can all be happy

I wouldn’t call it a “failure”, yeah it has it’s problems but it’s strangely addicting to play.

Hahahahaha what the… xD I don’t even…

No one who ever said Halo 3 > Halo Reach is saying Halo Reach > Halo 3/4 now…

They (343) are human beings, they can learn from history, from others mistakes. They could have learned from Halo Reach; but they simply don’t care for gameplay, only to max their game’s “coolness”…

I’m not even playing Halo 4, I don’t care if they fix it, and so does noboy else. They had their chance and they blew it.

Just learn to live it? No thanks…

Addictive = Fun?

  1. Failure is completely subjective.

  2. You clearly haven’t seen any of the articles or interviews where 343i employees have admitted to their mistakes, such as flaws in multiplayer or even the design of the Prometheans.

Not completely. There’s many ways of looking at it! But yes, it’s subjective in many ways ofc!

Please link if you can be bothered. I’ve not been on this webpage or followed anything related to Halo 4 ever since I completed its campaign about a week after its release. Instead I’ve mostly been playing wow and just recently got back on Halo 3.

Can you please give me a reliable evidence about your option? I’m not interested in “my friends only does not play because it’s sucks”. Did you sit down right next to players and watched their reaction? Many of modern day games DOESN’T have RANKED play lists.

Halo 3 is still alive. Thrust me, if it’s REALLY that good on par with Halo 2, why it doesn’t have 100,000 population? Because it’s old? Silly answer. Many of MUCH MORE older games are still played by millions.

I don’t want to indulge in personalities but I really have enough of “I played since CE and 2 but I’m completely idiot to know what’s going on” kids. Many of your arguments are valid, but bashing is not a solution.

If you does not like Halo 4 or 343, then why you there? We don’t need you, you don’t need us. If you don’t like something then doesn’t continue it. It’s a solution my friend.

Compared to older Halos, maybe Halo 4 seems to not be as popular. But compared to other games, Halo 4 is pretty successful. It pains me to see it at the 6th spot on Xbox live, next to BF3(Is awesome game, try it if you haven’t) which as been out for year.
