What do you y’all think? I only had the opportunity to play for a little while today but I had all kinds of fun!!! Nostalgia set in for sure. Took me a few minutes to get re-familiarized with the maps but once I did it was GAME ON!!! Battle Creek has been my favorite by far. Strangely enough I got my first H5 PERFECTION and RAMPAGE playing it today.

I don’t have anything to add that hasn’t already been said before. How is this a “classic” playlist if things like Sprint and Thruster in it? The weapons are all so easy to use because of the massive amounts of bullet magnetism that it feels nothing like CE. The worst part is that they have been getting actual classic gametype requests since day one, and this would be LITERALLY the perfect time to give them to us, but they -Yoinked!- it up, just like they always do.

Classic implys the mode emulating a prior entry. Since h1 is what is being celebrated it should play like h5’s trying to be h1.
Instead we get h5 on h1 like maps ment for h5 when we should be playing h1 in h5 to the best of its abilities to be like h1.

It’s also worth mentioning that a 343 employee, I can’t recall his dang name at the moment, said it may not even have been possible to give us a whole hearted “classic” playlist without the thruster and sprint ability. Unless you didn’t get to read that it shouldn’t come as a surprise.
The bullet magnetism is reminiscent of early Halo iterations. As in, literally no different than what it was back in the day which explains why, in my case, I rocked in early iterations and struggle to be better than average on H5.
Honestly, everything, minus thrusters/sprint, IS classic.
Played a couple of games, had fun.

As stated in an earlier comment we were told ahead of time that this would be the case. Classic maps with H5 feel. It really shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and I was well aware of what would be coming at me when I posted this topic. lol People just can’t be pleased. My suggestion is if you want to play H1 in its truest form maybe you should actually go play H1. lol
I know I had all kinds of fun with it today. Just being able to step back onto those maps again felt natural. It took me a few minutes to get my bearing and recall the maps and all of their idiosyncrasies. I dig it and I hope there is more to come!!

I like applying armors that others hate and that includes me. I hate everything about it honestly. lol, I put it on today just to give it a chance and I can’t bring myself to like it. lol
I played it to give it the benefit of the doubt. The most painful, blasphemous 10 minutes of my life I’ll never get back.

Just because they told us doesn’t mean that it’s not bad. Don’t get me wrong, I 100% expected it to not be good based on what they released in the update.
They said it’s not possible??? There are options in the custom games menu, if they want to fly me out to Seattle I’ll show them where they’re at.
I don’t know if you’ve seen it or not, but there is a set of setting going around called Old School and it would be really good for something like this. No Sprint, Thruster, Ground Pound, Clamber, Spartan Charge. They could have easily used something based off of those settings, or even just removed everything and then increased the base movement speed to something like 120% to get a similar effect.
I also disagree with you on the bullet magnetism being similar to early Halo. To actually 3-shot someone it used to be kind of hard. In this playlist if you don’t then you suck. The Sniper is 1000x easier to use in 5 compared to CE. Bullet magnetism is way heavier in this game, and that’s just a fact.
If you think it feels like classic Halo then I’m happy for you, I think you’re insane, but I’m happy for you.

I’ll clarify on the “not possible” part. The 343 employee said he wasn’t sure if it was but didn’t know because that isn’t his department. I honestly don’t know why it couldn’t be. I really do love this classic playlist though. I get that it won’t be a winner with everyone!!! Thanks for the replies!

I saw both while cruising through Way Point. Classic came up in the initial release of it happening. They may have had a change of heart when they realized they weren’t delivering a 100% classic playlist. Expectations and all. lol

Well, you can always make your own classic playlist if you are that dissatisfied with 343i’s playlist. I’ve heard some people have already done this. If 343i can’t give you the fun, make it yourself.
