How big is the open world be?

Hi, I have a question, how big is the open world, or is it even going to be a open world because I have heard that it’s not going to be an open world? Is it going to be like destiny.

Destinys planets have different creatures and it’s quite the same with halo. Maybe that should be so cool, (if it’s going to be an open world then!)

It’s not going to be like Destiny but it’s also not going to be like a traditional open world either.

I believe they’ve said the play space is about 3-4 times larger than Halo 4&5 combined.

Zeta Halo allows you to freely travel from area to area and more of the ring will unlock as you progress through the story too. There’s still a sense of linear progression. You can’t just go to every area immediately.
It’s more of a open play space that allows you to choose how you approach a mission or scenario rather than a full open world. Whilst those differences are subtly it’s important to clarify.

343i Have been avoiding using the term “open world” to try and set the right expectations on what the Zeta Halo area will be like.

I am very excited for this hybrid model between the linear and open world experience. I’m not sure if there is a better term for this approach, but its definitely one i can vibe with which will probably offer the strengths for both into a series evolving from its original roots. One day my fantasy is to have a halo style open world rpg like Destiny or the Elder Scrolls. Maybe if Infinite is successful we might see a project inch that direction over time.

joseph staten in conversation with larry hryb mentioned you can go where ever you want on the map and you are no longer limited to one directional path and instead you have full 360 degree exploration, something similar to famous quote from todd howard : see that mountain, you can climb it. and the zeta halo it self divided in big multiple biomes.

I think from what I’ve heard it’s similar to Metro Exodus but on a bigger scale. With Metro, you basically had a main task you were meant to be doing in a large map but you could explore the whole map and find side objectives to do.

Most likely this.

Hoping for at least an eighth of Zeta Halo.

Considering how big a Halo is, an eighth just isn’t happening.
