why is this so significant.
why in this science fiction is Cortana’s emotions perceived as a strength to her Programming and directives?
Well Cortana and John have an emotional attachment. no matter how much you like to think John a Machine,
he like us as fans, is infatuated by this aspect of his life [naked young woman councelling, consoling and always submitting to his needs. ]
Now that last bit isn’t intended to be misogynism nor toxic: John is a military operative, and he accels at percistion.
She could hamper him when she disagrees with him, but understanding his sentient capacities recognizes his authority and chooses not to get in his way. So together they are a fantastic team.
Well CORTANA has had Rampancy.
HAD. because CORTANA fixed herself, by re-distributing her positive and appreciable qualities to THE WEAPON. she didn’t just resolver her Rampancy Issue, she reset and upgraded, by prioritizing her data.
like a human having a revelation, or epiphany.
So aside from the personal responsibility John had, with his rank and stature
and capacity to compliment her,
they were linked through emotions.
This all plays in significantly to the current dilemma, now our past:
CORTANA has complete control of the Forerunner Installations,
and although she seems like a magolomaniac
she has something we don’t.
INTEL: she sees the flood threat as it actually is, and has a logistical cannon of all life in the blastzone,
and KNOWS that the sequences must be initiated, to salvage life,
as the clock is winding down to the final stages of this epic.
THE RINGS MUST BE FIRED
she knows this. Her emotions however, allow her to relate to humanity
and sympathize with humanity, outside the realm of MACHIEN APOCALYPSE anthology.
Cortana knows what needs to be done and is arraying the pieces for the best case senario.
BUT THEN WE ARE INTRODUCED TO SOMETHING NEW
THE BANISHED, THE ENDLESS

the flood predictably exist in the vast eternal space beyond the blast range,
perhaps the covenant actually arrived from there.
But the BANISHED may have their EMPIRE there. a vastly more conquistador empire,
