Halo 4 turns out to be awesome. Though I don’t mean just any awesome. I mean revolutionary and a game that changes the face of gaming for the better. Like the Half-life series, the original Halo and other great games. How sweet would that be? I’m not saying it will be…but a guy can hope… Anyway discuss this general topic in this thread…or maybe just games that you feel had a huge effect on gaming as an industry and how that could happen in Halo 4.
I feel that the campaign will be revolutionary.
I have to say, it would surprise a lot of people if it was a good as Halo 3. No doubt it will be a good game, and it will definitely sell well.
You mean another Halo 1, 2 and especially 3 (In my opinion)? Ah, yes.
I’m hoping Halo 4 is better than Halo 3.
I sure hope you’re right! If its better than halo 3, it will become my favorite game.
It’s kinda stupid but I’m getting a little teary eyed just picturing a game coming out that has the power to change the entire industry. Anyone else feeling it? I just want a game to come out that feels fresh and innovative and instantly feels like a classic. I can’t remember the last game that has felt like that for me and I’d sure like it to be this one…
I would probably make the biggest jump of joy any one has ever taken in the history of mankind…
I believe 343 has the potential to create a game that is as good, if not better than any other Halo game released. All 343i has to do is listen to the community somewhat (both the competitive and casual crowd equally), make intelligent decisions on what to keep, what to add, and what to discard from the sandbox, retain the same Halo gameplay, make a really compelling and great story, and they pretty much are golden.

Bioshock felt like that to me. It was really a game-changer (seewhatididthere?) in terms of narrative and true choice in terms of combat. Sadly, most of the industry hasn’t learned its lesson, hence we have playable Michael Bay movies (in the form of Call of Duty) or stories that have a capacity for far more emotion than they actually let into their games (in the form of Halo Reach) to the just plain ridiculous cash grabs by companies (Mario Party 9, anyone?).

I was actually going to mention Bioshock in the OP but I changed my mind. I see what you’re getting at though and I agree. Man…we need a revolution…
I’m excited for Halo 4, don’t get me wrong, but hyping yourself up too much is dangerous as hell. When it comes to video games, nothing can ever live up to your imagination (unless you’re pessimistic, then you’re always pleasantly surprised). I did the same thing with multiple games, such as Halo 3. Halo 3 was a good game, but it seemed diminished compared to the epic game I had imagined. It’s like how horror movies are scary until you see the monster: your imagination is filling in the blanks with the most horrifying thing you can imagine, but the ultimate reveal is pitiful compared to what you came up with.
I’m not saying everyone should stop caring about Halo 4, I’m just saying that you can’t just assume that it will be better than if kittens fell from the sky in parachutes with backpacks full of doughnuts. Be critical, be cautious, and be open to the possibilities of success AND failure. When you get Halo 4, don’t whine about what you wish was there, appreciate what IS there.
Trust me, it will make Halo 4 better for you.

Yeah, I’m really hoping that Halo 4 can work wonders in terms of narrative, especially because 343 has made that a focus. If they deliver on their promises in terms of campaign, Spartan Ops is handled well (I could see that copied by a LOT of other shooters if it’s done well), and multiplayer is fun and accessible, while not ripping all form of creative thought from combat (ALA Call of Duty’s 3-shot kills), I’m pretty confident that it will be a great game, though it becoming a classic in such a crowded market seems like a bit of a stretch to me.
I would rub it in the face of certain people.
If Halo 4 is better than Halo 3, it will be considered a good game in my eyes. There is no way it will be better than Halo’s CE and 2. I will keep my mind open, but I will confidently say that.
Halo 4 will be a great game. some will like it, others will not,I can already tell I’m going to enjoy it though…
