How attachments could be implemented

If there is going to be attachments like the ONI Spartans red dot sight thing, then they should either not affect anything about combat like a tactical flashlight to make some parts of the map easier to see, maybe just some kind of sharp thing on it that would just change the look of melee attacks, not their damage or speed. Another way attachments could be implemented is found on the map, maybe a fore grip for the smg, which I hope returns, maybe some kind of extended clip that doesn’t extend it by too much like an assult rifle would only have like 10 more bullets. There should NOT be scope attachments

Attachments like an extra flashlight I could imagine is a terrible idea because very little parts of any Halo map are dark and all it would serve as is a sign saying “come kill me”. I am for the extra attachments to change how melee looks. It was done with the Spiker and Brute shot and no one cared. And absolutely no extended clips, even if found on maps.

If they’re purely cosmetic, and don’t change the game play in the slightest i.e. don’t advantage/disadvantage the user at all, then I suppose that would be OK, other than that, no, they shouldn’t be implemented

I wouldn’t want to see attachments make their way into Halo… there is no need to clutter Halo with that. I will agree with you OP, that IF they were introduced in this upcoming title, if they were purely cosmetic and not affect gameplay then it would be “okay”. Regardless, I don’t want to ever see attachments make their way to Halo.

Attachments wouldn’t be bad if they were actually separate weapons that could be found on maps, similar to the Plasma Rifle and Brute Plasma Rifle in Halo 2. You could have a BR with a normal sight and a BR with a red dot sight.

Or we could not include them at all.

The image of the new Spartan on the box is only concept art, then again - it wouldn’t be the first time a red dor sight made its way into Halo. Halo 3: ODST featured one and it behaved just like a normal scope.

Halo 3: ODST Red Dot Sight

I completely forgot about that too. I think people are reading too much into that concept art image.

The only time I would want attachments on weapons would be if they were only for customization and aesthetic purposes. I feel even map pick up attachments are really risky and shouldn’t be attempted if they boost the guns performance in some way.

I don’t mind attachments at all honestly. They’re in the books and it makes a lot of sense if you’re thinking on the story side of things. It’s whatever though, I don’t mind if they’re in or not.

Agreed, attachments only if they’re superficial/aesthetic and do not impact gameplay.

Reach had lots of up-armor stuff and it was cool because it didn’t change player behavior but was fun to customize.

I wouldn’t want to see attachment in Halo that drastically changed gunplay.

Cosmetically. No farther than that.

^This^

It’s possible that the ONI Spartan is the only one to have that attachment.

Eh,I suppose if it is purely cosmetic then that is fine, but I am extremely hesitant about on map attachments. The armor mods were already pushing it too much

Attachments such as Grenade Launchers or Bayonets would be nice.

What I mean by the grenade launcher is a change of the grenade throwing animation from throwing it to launching it. That’s all it would do. Fun Fact: The MA5B was supposed to have a grenade launcher, and it is canonical for 40mm launchers in Halo. Same with underslung Shotguns(which i really want)

I’m not really a fan of seeing any sort of attachments in a Halo game. But if thats how it’s gunna be I really hope they still let us setup/use the traditional weapons. I really don’t like that BR with the smaller scope. I want a regular looking BR personally.

Just because they’re ok and cool in the books doesn’t mean they’d be the same in MP.

I swear if they bring in red dot sights and ADS to Halo it will take some kind of miracle to get me to even consider it a Halo game.

Suffice it to say I’ll leave it at this. Say somehow in the books there’s a rocket that shoots 4 before it needs a reload. That’s all well and good, but if it should make its way into the game, attachment or not, it would wreck anything it came across since you now have twice as many chances to kill someone with the rocket launcher which is already normally a one shot kill.

Attachments as gameplay altering elements don’t belong in Halo as they are in most modern FPS.

Cosmetically, Absolutely, Gameplay, no.

Halo 4 proved we do not want class based, it’s all been said before.
