How Armor Lock can be partially fixed.

First make it take away half or all of your shields away so you only use it briefly to avoid being splattered. And make it last half the time.

Or just leave it alone. The unbalanced AAs are one of the things that made reach what it was… If you fixed the balance issues it wouldn’t be reach.

Never saw anything wrong with armor lock to be honest. Yeah it could be annoying but not to the point where it needs to be changed. The intention behind armor lock is to save yourself from being splattered or hit by an explosive and while some players use it as a way to prolong the inevitable it’s not “broken” and can simply be countered by
1: not standing near the person in armor lock
and 2: throwing a grenade right before it ends
or alternatively 3: just shoot them as they come out of it.

How about we don’t mechanically touch the game and if you’ve got a problem with the way the game plays at stock go play Halo 5 :^)

Those aren’t really counters, though. Armor lock itself can’t be stopped. You literally just have to sit there and wait for several seconds to finish your kill. It’s a totally unnecessary speed bump in gameplay that, like you said, just prolongs the inevitable. It serves no meaningful purpose other than being a nuisance.

The purpose it’s meant to serve is to save yourself from incoming explosives or vehicles which it does do. Yeah it can be annoying when a player just uses it to stop you from killing them for five seconds but it’s also not over powered or anything.

If that’s what it was meant to accomplish, then surely a 1-2 second duration would have been more appropriate. This way players would at least need to time it more carefully, and at the same time it wouldn’t prolong fights for so long.

That’s the same excuse people make when saying that Halo 2’s Legendary difficulty shouldn’t be re-balanced or re-tuned. Total B.S., man. Just because something being broken in the original version of the game “makes it what it is” doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be fixed if it makes the game extremely frustrating. What the OP said about armor lock was actually a decent suggestion that would allow the AA to still be used but not make the game as frustrating for others.

Armor lock may be annoying, but I’d rather have it be kept as it is. It just wouldn’t be the same if it was balanced or fixed.

Halo 2 legendary should never be fixed. It’s extreme difficulty is its legacy. That’s is single player though not online pvp, nobody is forcing anybody to play it on legendary.

To be clear. I never liked any AAs being added to the game. But that doesn’t mean that 343 should change reach into something I like better. Clearly a lot of people love reach, just the way it was, otherwise they wouldn’t be remastering it at all. They deserve to get to play the game just as they remember it.

I’m not sure what your deal is with h2 legendary. If you don’t enjoy its difficulty, then just don’t play it. Content shouldn’t be nerfed on the highest difficulty just because you find it too challenging…
