how are you looking past this?

Equal Starts
No armor abilities
Sprint nerf
Weapon pickups on map/no ordnance
Descope
New ranking system with overall focus on competitive gaming and esports

Seriously this Halo is shaping up to be one of the best. What are the biggest issues here? Sprint? Sprint has been nerfed and will never be the reason Halo doesn’t do well. Wanna know why Reach “sucked”? (Despite selling thousands of copies and keeping a healthy population for a long time) Reach had armor lock, the DMR was not generally liked, armor abilities just in general, loadouts. That’s why people didn’t like it.

Halo 4? Sprint is a factor but not the leading reason. Ordnance (I get grenades and he gets a rocket launcher!?), COD perks, loadouts, boltshot, lack of playlists such as SWAT or a classic playlist, no ranking system, also the DMR was the best weapon choice and after Black Ops 2 came out, the masses left for the better game or went back to playing an older halo.

Halo 5 is a great game and this beta will make sure it’s as good as it can be. Don’t be clouded by nostalgia or otherwise let one thing about the game ruin it for you.

bump

The problems aren’t really problems. They are changes.

Changes to the Halo formula will always upset the community.

Cool

I agree. This game is a gem. I hope the community wakes up and quits being -Yoinks!-.

Sprint is just a get out of jail card even with this “nerf”. Sprint mixed with shields and slow kill times along with big maps is not good thing.

Maps actually arent that huge. Just because they aren’t the same size as older fan favorite halo maps doesn’t make them large. The Pit, for example is about the same size or larger than Empire. Although I do feel that sprint should be nerfed one more time. I wouldn’t say its a get out of jail card on a universal level but it is still is a rarity that happens. I would say the best possible nerf would affect its rate of speed depending on the amount of shields someone has.

Lower shields = decreased Speed

I honestly don’t believe kill times are slow. Have you seen the smg’s kill time, that is ridiculous. Not to mention the dmr and the br kill times.

i aggree kill times are a little fast. if i get shot from behind very rarely will i be able to turn that battle around even if he has an ar and i have a br.

Those are the minimum requirements for an arena shooter. That’s why it’s overlooked.

Now fans are drilling 343 for changes elsewhere, because Halo 5 needs to meet ‘Halo’ requirements.

Sticking 100% with the Halo formula won’t cut it in these times.

Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo 3 are all great games but these days those games are just plain out dated.

If the full game is actually as good as the beta suggests with file share and everything all ready to go at launch and for 343 to support the game properly after release Halo 5 could be great. But as great as the beta is, I’m not holding my breathe just yet.

Those aren’t the minimum requirements. Gears of War had roadie run, loadouts, flinch, no ranking system and was a great arena shooter. Halo is still halo, it has equal starts, weapon pickups on map and the same killtimes and has the energy shield mechanic.

I feel like a skilled player has a lot better chance to turn these types of situations around. Than they do in other halos due to thruster and sprint

After Halo 4, Halo 5 seems to be a step in the right direction, but it’s a half-step. As you mentioned, they nerfed sprint, but they didn’t remove it completely. Why not? nerfing it, in my eyes, is admitting that it’s inclusion was a mistake in the first place. If they’re willing to nerf it, then why not go all the way and just get rid of it?

You say that there are no armor abilities, but I disagree. Everyone has the same armor abilities, but they’re still there. I’m referring to the thrusters and the ground-pound. Once again, it’s like 343 took a look at armor abilities in Halo 4 and said, “These armor abilities were a bad idea”. But instead of removing the bad idea, they toned it down by making everyone have the same set of abilities. A toned down bad idea is still a bad idea.

I applaud 343 for ditching the custom loadouts and the ordinance drops. They actually had enough conviction to cut those bad ideas entirely.

You clearly have not played the beta very much have you?
