How are we sitting at 12 maps?

The game was in development for all eternity. It’s been out in the wild for almost a year and when it’s at it’s year and a half point we’ll be sitting at 14 maps? It’s a good thing forge is looking great but we can’t have that yet either. I’ve never seen a live service game be treated more poorly than a regular game with regularly scheduled dlcs. 12 maps at like 6 years of development.

If CA weren’t working on the special mode they could add 4-8 maps within a few months. This free to play model is really killing this game. I’m willing to bet 343 is making more money on cosmetics than Bungie ever made on map dlc and they’re just hands down sitting on money not bettering the game. That cash flow will run out soon when they slow drip this game to death.

I hate making posts like this but it’s because I care about the franchise. I want the game to do good. Halo has been my main game for decades. I don’t want to see it’s potential killed because of lack of content. It’s just hard to justify sticking around for a game that feels like it’s being neglected by it’s care takers.

Why release tons of content for free on launch? Why not just slowly release them over time, call them ‘seasons’, and rake in the dough?

From a business POV they only release maps to get players to come back and to stay, they aren’t paid directly for maps. This is why map development isn’t 343i’s main priority for Infinite.

It’s bewildering.

You’d think it would be relatively quick and easy to port over Halo 5 maps. They would at least work straight off the bat with the similarly enhanced movement of Halo Infinite.

I don’t mind the 2-3 maps per Season - but that only holds true with 13 week seasons.

We’re getting two Forge maps Nov 8. I imagine there will be some Forge Council offerings in the background as well - surely some classic reimaginings to at least kick start us.
