I think the biggest issue with Infinite was the fact it released with a fraction of the content dedicated fans where expecting, BTB was broken for weeks, desync was horrendous, and the competitive queue lacked integrity due to an exploitable matchmaking system and no anti-cheat. As if that weren’t enough, the slow response paired with - putting it politely - poor communication did nothing to foster good will. In short the game was broken and 343 was AFK.
To say the handling of Infinite was a circus led by clowns is an understatement. They - 343 leadership including upper and lower management to varying degrees - took the game and beat it within an inch of it’s life with their incompetence. The question is whether they’ll be able to nurse it back to health. Personally I think its possible but they need to get their act together.
So, this proves that 343’s whole “priority zero” crap is exactly that. I could go on a dissertation full of expletives showcasing my distain for their refusal to release content to us. I could give zero f’s about their worklife balance. They made promises, then they broke promises. Honest to god, I wonder if the people at 343 “working” on Halo infnite actually know how to manage a consistent feed of content. Cause it’s not here.
Just how specific does 343 need regarding instruction? Cause clearly, they don’t know how to plan ahead, otherwise there would be no technical debt to have to deal with. Makes me wonder if they should have delayed the game for ANOTHER year. Guess it’s too late for that now.
What gets me is the insinuation that halo fans are just greedy and are never pleased. The reality is that the game has been mismanaged. All of the features we are asking for have been in older halo titles on day one. Forge, a working theatre mode, decent networking, community features, custom games, a solid progression system to reward time spent in the game, campaign coop, and within a year there were an abundance of new maps to play.
This was all day one content. ALL of this is missing from the halo infinite day one build, and the reality is most will still be missing a year after release.
Pointing the finger at fans does no good, the fact is the game has been mismanaged start to finish. The fact that it took 6 years of dev time including a one year delay and even the basic features that are in place do not function properly. There is no getting around it, the game has been botched. The only thing they got right was the gunplay in my view, and that is why it is so frustrating.

Definitely a miss in my book too.
I understand “Priority Zero”, but if there was ever an appropriate time to implement ‘crunch’ it would be now.
There’s clearly some level of sustainability going on from revenue of some kind, but as for overall sentiment I see more praise these days going to Overwatch’s development jolt after years of lackluster stagnant updates than I see with Halo Infinite which is one of if not Microsoft’s biggest flagship titles.
Gotta admit, for as much hope as I had moving forward with this title, this was an overtly under-enthusiastic swing and miss on 343’s part.
Even then, when they do drop everything to focus on a fix. The fix takes up to a month to repair.
ala, big team battle matchmaking issues.
Yeah and for once I actually saw what was wrong.
That roadmap was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Bad optics.
Always read/watch/listen to the first party source if it’s available. It’s the rawest form of info you can get.
Going off a secondary/third party interpretation exclusively is literally the worst thing you can do to form an opinion, because it’s forming an opinion from opinion reinforcing confirmation bias.
A six year, industry wide, slow down…doesnt check out.
Agreed.
Especially with the last few Q&A-esque update posts hammering out a lot of wrinkles with player sentiment, it appeared that 343 had turned over a new leaf in further development.
I’m gonna bank on the long long run and say that this game may offer a pretty great all encompassing experience down the road, but the short ‘long’ term goals are quite demoralizing.
The best phrase for it honestly.
I’m talking 2020. Relax, this ain’t a defense of 343. ![]()
I’ve been gaming since Atari released, and as I got older there is one important thing I learned and now always go by.
(Actions speak louder then words.)
343 is no different then Bungie, they love to talk a lot to try and sound good, but their actions literally show otherwise. I understand what you’re saying, but what is actually taking place with this company is in plan sight that I don’t even need to read anything on this forum. I can see it crumbling right in front of my eyes.
Absolutely embarassing. Such incompetence.
Microsoft, pease give Halo to another developer. 343 is in WAY over their heads and has been since the very beginning.
Please. Enough is enough.
I actually just put my Xbox Series X for sale now.
And its all Halos fault.
I can just play the Xbox games on PC.

Lots of vague words, very little substance.
No mention of fixing De-synch. No mention of allowing us to pick which server we play on (their automagic server selector thinks Amsterdam at 250 ms ping times is better for me in Alberta Canada than 25 ms ping times on Seattle Server). Guess those “Drop Pod” fixes are moving sideways or landing on the moon.
Unless the base game on these 2 issues is resolved, there is no need for new content or Forge or Season Pass 2 or Movies or anything else. The game is unplayable as is and I will not be re-installing Halo Infinite on my Xbox One X.
This is a good tl;dr for most of their posts. The ones that are illuminating make me sorry I can read.
What are you on about?
Yeah its no secret at this point that halo infinite is a steaming pile of ****.
I basically stopped playing and know for a fact that even the next season with Forge and campaign coop will result in this game being just under water for years regarding player numbers. Infinite will go down as arguably the worst live service game ever. There’s a reason it went free to play. Had it been $60, it would have caused chaos because even playing for free alone is somehow still a rip off.
