Ok so here’s some background information. Me and my friend, let’s call him Jorge (Remember Reach) and we’re talking irl about what’s a new roleplay to do, we did a Star Wars one, ODST one, covenant one, a lot of Halo and Star Wars related roleplays. This is a 2 second story, not at all long.
So we were walking and talking as per usual and Jorge says, “Hey, what about a Spartan roleplay?” I shrug and ask him if he means Spartan II, Spartan III, or Spartan IV. He answered with “Spartan II, I guess. How are SIIs recruited again?” Now keep in mind Jorge has never played a Halo game in his life (They’re IRL RPs). I look at him for a good 3 seconds, laugh and say, “Recruited? You mean abducted.”
Yea it was stupid but whatever.
> How are Spartan IIs recruited again?
I mean you’re not wrong. Lotta people forget what happened in Fall of Reach.

Never forget.
Remember Reach.
I miss the Halsey we had in those early books. Yes she was still a bit of a darker mad scientist. But she was our mad scientist. And she is presented in a very (dark) maternal light, which makes it much harder to see her as the villan.
Also it drives me nuts that oni is not using her. In a universe where you have multiple human planets she could be “lost” and still used, hidden away on some research station, doing a better job of the unethical work that you know oni is still doing behind the scenes.

The phrase “light treason” from arrested development comes to mind. It’s really just a bit of light kidnapping. You might even call it tradesies since they left broken clones in place of the original children.
