How are Championship weekly prizes won?

There’s something I don’t understand about the weekly prizes.

So, each week there are 750 games to win, 750 avatar costumes, and 750 avatar props. That means in all there are 2250 prizes to be won each week.

Does that mean the top 2250 players (barring the top four as stated in the FAQ) win one of those prizes, or are players who participated just chosen at random? If it’s the latter that seems an unusual way to do it to me.

I’m pretty sure the prizes are given randomly.
