How ai in halo 4 should be handled

The enemy halo ai has always been praised for its overall difficulty and thier reasoning. However i felt that the actual ai in reach never really got smarter they just got stronger (more shields, did more damage and faster rate of fire) I really don’t think the actual ai improves with difficulty.

My list of what enemy ai should be in halo 4

  • Have a sense of self preservation (however they should still have suicide enemy troops, and they shouldn’t just evade every 2 seconds like the elites in reach)

  • Relentless, “Death squads” which are much more aggresive than normal hostiles and will do anything for you do die (in addition make some brutal kill animations and behaviors)

  • Quick

However the ai should not be overly powerful to the point of excessiveness i really miss the think on your feet approach that halo ce took (not saying that cover should be taken out) just saying that in the fiction spartans axel at this (just look at halo legend’s the package and that halo war’s cutscene with the spartans and 50 elites)

Friendly ai just needs to be better in all aspects !

They just need to make them smarter. And I wish allied AI would be useful on higher difficulties. Instead of shooting me and other allies with rockets. Or killing us with grenades. Or running in front of enemy vehicles…

And btw there’s a post on this topic already.

There was also a different one, didn’t see it though.

I agree. Bungie just made them tougher. The actual AI doesn’t improve. Rather, their chances of doing or noticing something increases.

Self preservation shouldn’t mean that they take cover all the time when their shields are down or hide behind their lackeys. Elites aren’t cowards. Lower ranking Elites should defend their leaders, not necessarily themselves.

By relentless death squads, if you mean AI that follow you places rather than staying in a safe area, I agree. Take CE megabattles as a prime example of this, notably twin bridges; unless you’re in an inaccessible location, they will follow you everywhere, even inside the corridor. Of course, with the way things are now, such battles would be unpleasant.
