^This tbh, except not “btb specific”, more “playlist agnostic”. This thread is really interesting cause I’m a BTB main usually in Halo but for the past two weeks I’ve played nothing but LSS, team slayer & quick play cause all of the challenges I’ve had were either LSS event ones or asking me to play X games / X score / win X gamemodes in the 8 player playlists.
Due to the annoying challenge design & lack of non- challenge progression there are zero rewards for playing btb, so when like me you’ve got limited time to play the game and wanna progress, I just haven’t been able to play it.
Just played another ctf game on High Ground and it’s annoying as always since S2 started.
Man, where are real anti air weapons against the wasp? I mean hydra range is not so big, laser range is even shorter or the same, but you hardly can do something alone with laser even on short range.
Shock rifle can disable wasp yeah, but it’s useless if wasp is far away and nobody can finish it.
What about Skewer? Again it’s hard to use on long distance.
My point is wasp can deal damage stay safe on another side of the map or stay safe behind that rocks on High Ground, but you can’t do the same.
It’s not wasp alone for sure, it’s that S2 btb changes that makes wasp even more annoying especially when enemies have two of them and everyone is driving warthogs, gosts, etc.
By the way why warthog turret has no overheat? I mean really, people are like f snipers with it, driving around and making kill after kill after kill after kill especially pc players with mouse I believe because their accuracy looks too good for controller.
I’ll be honest and say that I hate Highpower and that every time I see that I’m about to get it in matchmaking I immediately cancel matchmaking.
The Wasps just feel too overpowered there and a damn nightmare when the enemy team either steals yours or just fire missiles at it from a distance when your team fails to get in in time.
The bump in aircraft drops for Season 2 I will say makes Highpower even more of a pain in the -Yoink!-, thus I skip it.
Man, I watched Mint Blitz video about changes/new patch just yet and he said they got 4 wasps on their side and at some moment it was 6 wasps on the map like 3v3 or 4v2 i’m not sure.
I’m glad they will return spawn timers/system to how it was in S1, now it’s just broken for sure on High Ground at least.
If you know where they are, start marking them, sniping them back and flushing them out with grenades. use ur thinkmeats there’s a million ways to kill a ghost, most of them extremely fun.
personally this map is a blast for me because i love trying to huck grenades up into impossible places to knock people out. plenty of shots to angle in this one. i still don’t like the mangler nerf, but in terms of vehicle changes, spawn changes, etc on btb maps, me n the bros are having a good time
I’ve had Wasps spawn on Fragmentation and Deadlock and I don’t mind them as much there. Deadlock is just much more open, with less places for them to hide, so its easier to shoot them. Fragmentation the narrow cliffs can be just as bad for Wasps where they get penned in and it can be a bit easier to sneak up and get to them. Plus the loot caves providing potential tools to take them down (Sniper Rifles and Active Camos, for instance) on top of the usual weapon spawns.
Highpower is just a nightmare with how many places they have to hide and keep their distance.
While this is my go-to counter and I’ll be the one that tends to go Wasp hunting, I’ve run into two potential problems that can ruin this plan:
When the Hydra doesn’t spawn at your base, but instead its the Ravager.
Overly cautious Wasp pilots who keep such distance or are just that close to the cliffs that it gets difficult to get a shot on them and take them down - double for the enemy team seeing and shooting you during that time.
I know about hydra and laser, I believe I said about them, maybe not here.
Hydra is good, but it’s range kinda not so great to be honest, you still need to go closer time after time but you can’t and wasps still can hide behind mountains on High Ground so it’s even harder to reach them/effective range.
For example hydra can be found on that left path between mountains near that kinda hill. I belive you unable to lock on with hydra from that hill if wasp is above small building near sensor spawn, the same with a laser. The thing is wasp drivers like to use that spot because they can hide behind that mountain near the sensor spawn. If you jump from the hill to go closer you’re completely dead.
Deadlock in S2 feels kinda messy to me, but it’s more about weapons I believe bacause additional pads were added.
Fragmentation feels kinda the same, more vehicles for sure but the flow of gameplay doesn’t change too much.
The extra weapons and the Ghost spawns do make it more chaotic and I think I like that. The Ghost and the Pelican drops definitely make for a more fun vehicle scene but that’s my opinion.
Fragmentation remains pretty much the same but I loved Fragmentation so that’s fine
I think I’m get used to S2 Deadlock already, but the first games was too intense to me.
I can’t say the same about High Ground, still every game in every mode as a pain to me:)
Also good points. I kinda hate the weapon spawns change every match, that never made a lot of sense to me. (I love wasp hunting too lol why is bringing one down so satisfying?)
I don’t think I read anything about lazer or hydra in this thread no. But yeah. Also good points. It’s not an end all be all but it can help.
