If you’ve seen the new blackout trailer for black ops 4 they had an idea I would love to see implemented in halo, no it’s not royale… Lol. I like the idea of one big map with all the previous halo maps incorporated in it - that would kinda be amazing. What do you guys think??
It would be too big for any existing Halo game types. Even too big for Warzone. The only thing a single map of that size would be good for would be Battle Royale.

I dunno, I mean I’m in favor of larger maps but only if they keep sprint (so we’re not all stuck reliant on vehicles to traverse open spaces)… But combining multiple different maps together doesn’t sound like a good idea to me either way. They just need larger maps to go along with higher player counts, but not multiple different maps jumbled together. That sounds busy and sloppy to me.

Could section it off. ODST’s Firefight minigames were implemented in the live campaign maps, to the point where out-of-map exploits let you load the non-Firefight sections.

How about mini campaign missions with randomized variables. They could add that in as a forgable option. And the maps that are selected don’t have to be a bunch of big ones either. There are plenty of smaller maps that have similar themes. Say for example if you were to connect all the city maps in halo 2.

Then what would be the point of a single large map if it were all sectioned off and had to load different areas in as you entered them? That wouldn’t be very good in the middle of a multiplayer game. It would only be fun for forging and messing around.
I’m not sure that would work, as most Maps are in very different locations very far away from each other, and putting them all next to each other wouldn’t make a lot of sense.
Also, ALL halo maps? That would mean modelling and texturing, essentially re-creating over 120 different maps from scratch for the new engine. It just isn’t feasible.
I believe that’s called Forge World, my friend.
I wonder how many players are required to utilise the full geography of the whole map? This sounds like too much of a big fish for 343i to catch nor do I see any practical reasons to develop a massive all-in-one map.

I meant sectioning it off for smaller game modes, and using the full size for larger ones.
I don’t think stitching every Halo map together, as OP recommends, is the best idea, but I do think that having more Forge Worlds would be friggin’ awesome.

Oh sure, having a large Forge world is nice and all. But even back when we had Forge World, it’s not like the was a single map that used all of Forge World; at least not one I remember. I can’t think of a game mode (even Warzone) that would benefit from such a large space. Even a large race track that spanned all of the Forge World would not make use of the entire map.
Stitching together all the multiplayer maps into a single large map would be odd. Logistically, it wouldn’t even make sense; how could you go straight from a map using a Covenant ship to a map that is set on Earth?

Or driving around in a scout hog, as seen in the HI trailer.

I don’t count an exploratory mode as a “game type”. If you want to boot up the forge world to drive around in and see the sights, yeah, go for it. But I wouldn’t join a custom game like that, and I certainly wouldn’t want to see that in matchmaking.

It could be called RACE on an open map. Sure it’s not for everyone but race is a game type.

Real races have tracks or at the very least checkpoints to go through, either in a “Point A to Point B” style or a multi-lap style. Just driving freely over an open canvas isn’t much of a race.
Edit: if you want a “cross country” style race to see alot of the Forge World, I could understand that as a custom game, but matchmaking games can’t be too long, so depending on how big the Forge World is it wouldn’t be practical to have a game type where you are just driving for a long period of time.
I would rather have maps that fit the gameplay itself rather than mix and match of old maps.
I would maybe rather have something like classic playlists with classic maps with classic gameplay mechanics.
