Has anyone else had, at times, slight frustration with the new motion tracker? I know I have. I’m still trying to understand better how it works. At times it seems hyper sensitive to motion (which is a good and bad thing) so it allows you to use crouch a lot more since you’re invisible on it, when you do choose to crouch. And then other times when it doesn’t seem to be working at all. I feel like when there are people walking on the other side of a wall, I’m not able to see them on my tracker. It almost seems like it picks up sprinting and almost nothing else.
Also I’ve noticed that it barely lets you know of a height difference between you and your enemy. It seems to change just the slightest shade of red when they’re on a different level (height wise). But other than that, it seems pretty ineffective to me. How does it work? I’m one of those people that really enjoyed Halo 4’s motion tracker, and it’s throwing me off having to re-learn a new one.
This isn’t just in multiplayer either, it was confusing me in the campaign too.
I hadn’t realized that was a problem until you mentioned it, being whether or not you know what level their on. In some of the other Halo’s they’ve done a pretty good job with the radar.
They either need to get rid of it entirely, or improve it significantly. It’s more harmful than helpful thus far in my experience. The information I can gather from it is convoluted and leads to confusion when I need to be able to make a quick decision. Add to that it only really works when there’s a guy right on top of you and I’m not really sure why they included it at all in this state. I would think that if someone is in AR range of me, I should be able to see them on the motion tracker. Considering that range is absurdly large though, that’s probably not the best solution.
All i know is a few times Id run down a corridor with nothing on my motion tracker and then all the sudden i’d get assassinated or shot in the back by a guy that was 3 feet behind me. I know I might be rusty, but I rarely get hit from behind without knowing they are there. I know crouch makes you radar invisible (use the tactic often) but there’s no way they were crouching cuz they wouldn’t have caught up to me to assassinate me while i was in a full sprint.
I think its alright. Makes it better to sneak up on people.
But with people able to sprint you can close the distance of the motion tracker before people notice you.

Pretty much exactly what you said! The tracker in it’s state right now is a camper’s dream. I’d just say increase the range of it, and make it easier to tell if someone is above you or below you.
At first I was frustrated. Now I kind of know where everyone will/can be since the maps are learned. It has been a lot more fun. And just to be clear, it’s an even plane for everyone.
The range obviously needs a buff, but I feel like people are also forgetting that it’s a motion tracker and not a radar. More than once I’ve seen people whining about how some guy crouched in a corner didn’t even show up on their radar and that’s why that radar’s trash. No. It’s a motion tracker. Though, yes, range needs a buff for sure. Not quite sure who made the decision to reduce the range of the motion tracker in a game where Spartans are able to move faster than in any other Halo. If anything it should have been slightly increased because of the added speed.
