How about something serious instead?

When I first saw someone mention a Pizza AR, I had to look it up. Lo and behold, the one thing I didn’t think would happen, did indeed happen.
i343 decided to put in a weapon skin with salami on it, one with an Eagle, two with rainbows and one with french fries.

When DotA 2 launched its Workshop and gave players the ability to create content for it to be used, a large majority was afraid we were going to see non-serious skins and stuff going against the general aesthetical direction of DotA 2. So far, I’m not aware of any actual skins that are way too far out of line with the general direction of the artistic visuals. Not like Smite where we have Elvis Bacchus, Bikini Aphrodite with a cell phone and a speedo Hercules to name a few. Good game, but it undermined itself rather quickly in the artistic part with soo many non-fitting skins.

I didn’t think i343 would do this, but they did. I hope this time is a one time occurance, too much sugar or food during christmas which led to a drop in judgement I wish.

So, what can we get instead for armor, weapon skins and visors?

We already have the “broken” Mark armor, why not make battle worn versions of other armors? That is something which has been asked for over a longer period of time.
Following that line of thinking, why not have combat worn skins for weapons? Dirty and scratched.
Then there are different kinds of camo patterns to use.
Then in Reach we saw Emile with his etching on the Visor, couldn’t we get visor variants with similar etchings?

What do you think would be good serious additions that follow the before established Halo artistic style, pre-pizza era.

How about a sgt johnson skin

I like the idea of battle worn armor. Could have a burnt look and maybe some cracks that show. Not into the colorful weapons skins, would rather have a camo look or even solid colors.

Gametypes? Realistically unlockable armor? Warzone REQs for Forge? Why are things like silly skins taking priority?

I said it before and I’ll say it again- They’re not listening. They had a business model from the get-go. We’ll release this DLC, then this one with Forge, then this one, and so on and so forth. They’re not taking player feedback into account and saying “Okay guys, people want gametypes so we’ll make a gametype-focused DLC for next month” and so on for everything this game desperately needs. They’re just doing their own thing in their own little world and praying it satisfies the masses.

I don’t mind the fun skins they’re implementing. I think it lightens it up a bit. Btw I’m sure we’ll get “serious” skins such as woodland camo.

Gametypes are not visual. artists are not working on them to the same extent like on the actual visuals.

i343 is adding skins wether or not we want them, so we might as well try to give them ideas of what to add.
You do realise new gameplay content such as gametypes will require some actual work to get it going, then some additional work to make sure it does not break the rest of the game, or parts of it. i.e beta testing.

I just hope they make a red and blue paisley skin for my dmr.

tomorrow will see

Then get the gametype makers off their laurels and start working on gametypes, while the visual artists are playing around in Photoshop.

And heaven forbid 343 does actual work to fix their game. Oh no! Gametypes require actual work to do. Beta testing! Coding! Et cetera! We don’t want 343 to actually work!

Need I remind you that we’re (unfortunately) begging 343 to re-add gametypes already FROM Halo? And I don’t care what lies they say, Halo 5 is a rework of their Halo 4 engine, and Halo 4 was a rework of Halo Reach’s engine, and that was based on Halo 3, etc, etc. Porting over gametypes from the previous game is so easy, it’s been done by MODDERS. Community members. PLAYERS. I can’t go into details on what exactly has been done in the past because of rules (PM me if you don’t believe me, I have the links for proof) that forbid talking about modded content, but all I’m trying to say is players have done exactly what we’re asking for in the past. Players. Not even the developers with the debug tools and source codes and the like.

Heh, sad thing is…TF2 has a ton of serious stuff in the workshop. Really high quality stuff. However, Valve always picks the gimmicky crap over it.

I do have ideas for skins…but I find it difficult to focus between playing CSGO and posting here. So more on that later. Will say skins should be less like Fade and Pizza…and more like Gold Standard or Ruptive. Subtle, and/or somewhat refined.

I think some ppl will like it(not me)but sure others will do can’t expect anything to fit into my flavour, anyway what about doing a poll smilar to weekend playlist so the com can get a bit involved with Weapon skins,or a contest com-creation for skins.

UNSC weapons should look fairly militaristic or space faring in nature. That means as a general rule primary colors should only be Black, Grey, Silver, Brown, or Olive, with vibrant colors only being used as subtle accents and trims. Nornfang and Oathsworn are decent examples of this. So long as you stick to those guidelines you probably won’t go wrong.

Stop painting everything bright white with vibrant racing stripes. Should be striving for a military feel, not a sports feel. At this point I’d say just avoid using the color white altogether.

Stop with solid blue, solid red, solid green, etc. skins. They don’t look fitting either.

Some quick ideas:
-Oni
-Corp (I’m fine with industrial looking skins)
-Worn (Scratched Metal, Rusted Metal)
-Skins with decals, such as Flames. Or that Halo 4 skin with the shark teeth, or the one with the blood splatter.

Assuming the multiplayer is War Games simulation on the Infinity, weapons can look like anything, no matter how ridiculous, because they’re not actually rated for military combat. The guns might not even be real, just hard light holograms made to look and feel like the real things, but can be skinned to whatever the user wishes. Since it’s all training, it can break standard protocol.

That said, the skins are stupid.

Yes well, I’m merely explaining what I do and don’t find ridiculous.

If someone wants to put a flaming skull motif on their rifle, I’ll consider it fitting and believable, even if it’s not standard protocol.
If someone has a lime green skin with a hello kitty picture on it…I’m drawing the line.

I don’t mind the more variations the better but ya when they start to become cheesy (literally, a pizza is cheesy) then that kills the game for me.

The last thing I want to see playing a competitive game of halo is little kids dropping weapons painted like french fries.
