How about second screen upgrades??

For halo Xbox one, I had a thought regarding second screens. What if they bring atlas back, and offer unlockable upgrades for the app. For example, getting certain armor upgrades and ranks might unlock new atlas functions such as displaying enemy personal ordinance drops, or displaying enemy locations for a brief moment or displaying cloaked enemies for a brief moment or something. Just a thought. What does everyone else think?

Seems cool. Also, it would be useful in forge to find objects.

Sure, sounds great.

Cool! I’m glad to hear there’s others who like this idea too.

Now that I have thought about it a lot more, I think second screen unlocks/upgrades could be a very cool addition to the halo experience. There could be a different second screen feature unlocked by completing different specializations, and the atlas function would just be one. They could do an augmented reality app of some sort where when you hold up the second screen to display what’s on your TV, it highlights certain things on the screen you wouldn’t be able to see otherwise. Or a second screen night vision or Promethean vision or something. Another cool idea, is to use the second screen as an enhanced motion tracker. I personally think the motion tracker in halo 4 was too helpful since it showed you what type of vehicle was around the corner (occupied or not) and when people have active camo they showed up as a red dot surrounded by blue dots which made it too easy to determine where they were at. I think by returning to the basic motion tracker with just red and yellow dots without any details would be more challenging, but the more detailed halo 4 style motion tracker could be an unlockable second screen upgrade. Or perhaps an enhanced scope, which allows you to point the second screen at a target and get one extra zoom in to snipe from further away (of course the phone cradle for the xbox one controllers would be needed for this). Or another really cool idea would be an AI companion, who talks to you and tells you certain details about game play like when an opponent is on a killing spree, or when an opponent or team mate picks up a power weapon or calls in an ordinance drop; or for objective games the AI companion tells you who is the king, or if an enemy is trying to steal one of your bases in dominion. Maybe you would have to purchase the second screen app for halo Xbox one initially, but once purchased, you could unlock different functions like these. I’m sure there’s a lot of other really cool second screen functions out there that could be integrated in as well.

This is what I have been thinking about as well.

It would be cool to have sort of what Battlefield is doing with B4 where you can participate in multiplayer games with an app from your phone.

But lately they really haven’t been giving a lot to us through mobile options, especially if you are running iOS. But I think this will change in the future.

No, I would rather NOT have an advantage over the enemy just because I have a secondary device, and no one on the enemy does.

This. Whatever happened to equal starts? That wouldn’t be fair play. At all. Halo has gone far enough away from its roots as it is.

No. Players should not have an advantage over others by using a secondary device. If 343i decides to have such a feature in Halo Xbox One then it should be a map you can bring up on the screen by pressing a button.

Smart glass is an integral part of the Xbox brand. I am sure there is going to be more integration with MM beyond stats. Personally, I like ATLAS in Reach. I don’t know about revealing anything about enemy positions but maybe weapon spawn timers. Bear in mind, features like this can be disabled for ranked or competitive playlists.
