How about elephants... in firefight

I had a crazy idea while playing firefight with a friend of mine the other day. What if there was some sort of large, vehicle-based firefight map for Halo 4?

I was thinking there could be something you have to defend, like a generator, in the Elephant, and you have to drive it to some sort of safe point. En route, of course, you would face waves of enemy vehicles that would attempt to attack/board you. I figure there could be some warthogs stored on the Elephant as well, if some of your team wanted to fight off the attackers farther away.

Coordinating such efforts, such as driving, manning turrets, killing boarders and deciding whether or not to kill off some of the attackers with warthogs would allow for a variety of play styles, and would put an emphasis on team work as well.

If I recall correctly there was a level like this in Halo Wars, where you escorted some elephants across the surface of the Shield World, although that was a different style of game. Of course it doesn’t necessarily have to be an elephant identical to those in Halo 3, just some sort of large vehicle that could fit a lot of stuff.

Anyone have any thoughts/opinions/ideas to add?

Yeah, that’ll be cool.

I don’t think that’s a crazy idea at all; I think it’s brilliant. Hell, you could have an entire mode called Firefight Race, in which the object is not only to survive waves of enemies but to get from Point A to Point B. The Mombasa Highway from ODST comes to mind, only with a significantly increased enemy count, including pursuing vehicles.

Take my money.

Wow. If this was implemented in firefight, it would be amazing, it would intrigue a lot of people, like me. Great idea, OP.

Would be even better if the maximum of participants in one game went up to 6, with a LOT more enemies. =]

Excuse my imagination for running wild, but… It would be just like recreating a car chase scene from your favourite action film. Particularly on the Mombasa Highway, you’d have new Covenant vehicles coming up the entry ramps; you could add some memorable jumps which, if taken correctly, would lead to your pursuers plummeting to their deaths; and you could even stud the highway with fusion coils and other hazards, making it necessary for the driver to swerve left and right while the gunner fires on them to take out approaching enemies.

Oh, I’m salivating.

TAEK AL MAI MONIES!1!!!1111!!!

Surving a combined force of Covenant / Forerunners/ and Flood, while riding on a Elephant = Most fun thing ever!!!

I actually laughed aloud.

I assumed you would =]

I love this idea! I really hope 343 gives us a bunch of amazing new gametypes oh and as long as they put elephants in whatever game mode I’ll be so happy

Would be amazing if they upped the elephant speed considerably and if the maps were done rut they could have enemy machine gun emplacements above you and such would be fantastic if done right  let’s hope the the new enemy would be as fun to fight in this situation as covies

Sure I think a firefight map based around an elephant would be cool

I love the idea too!
