How about a "Training" Spartan Ops Episode?

Maybe I’m the only one that wants this, but I would really like a Spartan Ops episode that just helps me warm up a bit for Multiplayer and has absolutely nothing to do with the story.

I want something with Spartan IV AIs that I can practice on. Each chapter of the episode could work on a different skill. One could be Octagon with weapons of your choice, another could work on sniping and no scoping, and maybe we could even have a driving obstacle course. If it’s done right, it could end up replacing Basic Training from Halo 3 for the newbies.

Thoughts?

Bots are a lot to ask for. especially since they are not in the final game.

But an empty room to run around in would be cool. Never gonna get this though, as it could cost microsoft more money than it gains them.

I’m not asking for anything complicated. I just want something that moves back and forth to strafe.

Its more co op than multiplayer, the campaign should be more than enough warm up

… Isn’t this missing the point?

  1. Spart.OPS. is training for MP… And not just because you can also unlock/rank up your MP profile in Spart.OPS.
Playing the campaign/like-modes IS training for the MP because you learn the baseline physics of the game.
Be them movement, attack or environment interaction, playing the game is playing the game.

  2. How can you train players against other players using bots for MP metagameplay in a campaign setting designed to not be about the campaign or MP?

No thanks, I wouldn’t want any part of this, I’d rather have an actual level instead of some boring tutorial.

And considering the most likely possibility of a basic tutorial on the first mission on easy and normal

pretty sure its the opposite

What we need is a way to teach new (and just bad) people how to be competant while not making the good players feel like they’re being patronized

MP is training for Spart. OPS?
Look at it this way, if you feel that unlocking stuff gives an unfair advantage, then it is smarter to “level up” in Spartan OPS to gain the weapons/mods. you want before jumping into the MP section that you may feel is unfair.
You learn the physics of the game and unlock “better” equipment before facing off against other players of varying skill and experience.
If that’s not training, then what is to you?

I agree leveling up a bit in spartan ops makes more sense than jumping straight into the matchmaking without any stuff…

They mean that as far as canon goes, MP is a series of simulations on the Infinity meant to train the spartans for their real missions (i.e. Spartan Ops)

Since the topic is about gameplay, clarification on that intent would have been more helpful.
Yes lore-wise War Games is a training program, but gameplay-wise War Games is where you prove your metal against others.
