How about a 1v1 playlist?

The most intense experiences a have had with Halo 5 are when I am fighting a duel 1 on 1 against a friend (or someone close to my skill level).
Wouldn’t it be cool to have a ranked 1v1 playlist?

I’m a bit shocked this isn’t a thing already to be honest. Yes, we all know Halo is a team game (save breath, people), but so many people enjoy 1v1. It would be a really cool playlist, and fun to check out the leaderboard, too.

Cool as it could potentially be, I would expect such a playlist’s population to pretty low, making it not particularly sustainable in the long run.

I moreless agree with this, though I don’t think I’d be that amazing. Actually, I think it’d get boring…quick, unless you were playing your friends.

Most people who want to do 1vs1 are challenging someone, calling them out saying so in so sucks, 1v1 me or something. If you want to 1vs1 against your friend, that’s what customs games is for. Also the customs browser would be a place to look or host 1v1 matches. So because of these options I don’t see the point of having a decided 1vs1 playlist.

I would personally play this a little just because it doesn’t require a teammate. With new, adapted maps, this would be one of my favorites.

1v1 spartan(ground)pounding only

I’ve never 1 v 1 I know a lot of people enjoy this it wouldn’t necessarily have to be a ranked playlist either ( if the population would be low ) it could be in the social rotation playlist ( personally I would love rock and rail to stay it’s so refreshing and a relaxing playlist to enjoy after the sweat of arena ) but I would very much be interested to see what a ranked 1v1 playlist would be like !!!

They would need an incentive to discourage camping. Maybe a neutral flag like Breakout has.

Thats a really cool idea, it could be like the flag in old Breakout that you had to score it in the enemy spawn

I had the same idea not too long ago, I actually made a post about it. Now tho I think that it would be full of campers and spawn killers. As someone said above, I think a playlist with Ground Pound only would be cool.

Octagon Training Ground 1v1 with x3 shields on spawn, BR and Sniper starting weapons

1v1 playlist in H3 didn’t work particularly well on vanilla maps - too big for 1v1

This is actually a pretty cool idea. Small maps to prevent hiding.

There is a 1v1 Forge map contest going on over at ForgeHub so there is a good chance this could happen.

I don’t think Halo was ever meant to be a 1v1 game but it could be interesting.

I think an octagon playlist would be kind of interesting in social it’s not really some thing I’de say you would want to trash on people because you would probably pick up bad habits but the loser has lots to be learned.

As a lone-wolf player, the idea of a 1v1 playlist is intriguing, but man… if the skills matching wasn’t absolutely perfect, the rage quits would make it unsustainable. When you’ve got some imbalance in a 4v4, sometimes team dynamics (or a bit of luck) can make up for it. A skill imbalance in a 1v1 match pretty much kills it from the outset. It couldn’t be straight-up Slayer with BR loadouts or whatever. It would have to be something creative like others have suggested, with limited weapons, or power weapons, or something that evens out headshot-skills.

You mean a camp-fest playlist? No thanks.

It would be cool but let’s be honest it’s not happening

I wouldn’t be against it, but absurd amounts of quits, boosting and the general cheesy camping and such would make it pretty unplayable very quickly.

Ah NO! The 1v1 Playlist has already been tried out back in Halo 2 Classic on the Original Xbox. Playlist was cool for a game or two but people camp to much which made the playlist go away. I mean come on people do you really think people are not going to camp with the shotgun or rocket launcher. You’re talking about a 12min game over and over again with people camping in one spot after they get the lead or grab a powerful weapon. Which turns into an extremely boring playlist of campers. Like i can see it now in the forums people complaining about the camping over and over again.
