How 343 can create a strong Halo community

Something that has been missing in Halo since Halo Reach has been the communication of developers with the gamers. I know we get a bulletin every week and 343 is listening and asking for our feedback but that’s not what I mean.

343 needs to create a strong gaming community for Halo again. They need to get more personal with the players by playing Halo 5 and offering special events with Double XP and exclusive unlockable items like we had in Halo 3.

Special events are a great way to create a stronger and better community but it has to be done the right way. I would suggest to release a special event playlist every 4 weeks in the weekends. This special event playlist will include a different gametype every 4 weeks and will include different exclusive unlockable items every 4 weeks. For example, the first special event playlist will have Griffball or Ricochet with different gametype variants and community created maps for the gamemode. The playlist will include a special set of challenges that are either hard to unlock or will take some time to unlock. If you complete these challenges you will unlock an exclusive piece of armor or emblem.

Each special event playlist will have its own exclusive rewards so the armor pieces and emblems will become more rare. Adding achievements for the special event playlist is also a great way to bring the community together to unlock achievements. Adding some challenging or very teamwork oriented achievement will make it hard to these achievements alone which means the community needs to work together to complete them in-game. Special events with exclusive rewards like unique armor pieces, emblems and achievements will be appreciated by the community a lot and there are a lot of community members out there and random Halo gamers who are willing to help or team up with other randoms to complete challenges and achievements together. This will create a much more family like community which is exactly what the Halo community needs to become again.

Another way 343 can make the community much stronger and feel more like a family is by livestreaming once per week playing either matchmaking or custom games with the community. They don’t have to livestream for 8 hours but having a 3 hour livestream while playing with fans is a good way to communicate and to have fun. This would definitely bring more love, passion and a family feeling to the Halo community.

And last of all, adding a community playlist to Halo 5 that includes community created maps is also a great way to make the community even more creative, excited and happy. They should do this just like they did in Halo 4. People can submit their Forge maps, including information for what modes they are designed, and 343 will select a certain amount of maps that have a high enough quality to fit in matchmaking. The maps 343 selected will be shown on HaloWaypoint and the community will have the option to vote on them. The top 5 maps will be implemented in a Community Playlist with different gamemodes. Every 2 months 343 should release a new Forge Contest and the winning maps should be added to the Community playlist as well. The playlist should include a maximum of 10 maps which means that the winning maps of the third contest will fully replace the maps that were available before. After two contests(4 months) the map selection will be replaced with new maps created by the community.
I hope this is something a lot of people will agree on including 343 to make the Halo community strong and more like a family again. This is exactly what Halo needs and I think these ideas mentioned above will vastly improve the community if they are done correctly.

  • Playable Elites, though restricted to Social playlists. This makes the Sangheili-lovers happy and adds a nice bit of aesthetic variety to the battlefield, while all the SWATtwats can play their games without worrying about some weird neck glitch. Alternatively, scaling the upright Campaign models down to Spartan-size wouldn’t be unwanted either, because Halo’s multiplayer mode was NEVER meant to be canon to begin with.- Make the gameplay changes they want (Spartan Abilities, Loadouts, Sprint, etc.) to Social playlists while leaving bland, vanilla gametypes similar to their earlier incarnations(say, Halo 3-era: Sprint/Bloom-free, AR or BR starts, no SAs, maybe field equipment like Active Camo or Bubble Shields) in Ranked playlists.- Change their name to Bungie, 'cause people here think Bungie is still the greatest gamedev of all time for some reason. Even after Destiny and all the whining about Reach.

The french community have not the same opinion on 343I !

343 can not “create” anything because EVERYTHING that has their name on it is OUTSOURCED. Kind-of like those calls you make to Microsoft Store and someone from India is on the other line… they have no idea of the situation at hand nor the lifestyle that you live to have an open view of the real problem. It is called SITUATIONAL AWARENESS. Somewhat seemingly primitive minds if you will just trying to fit in to make a dollar, looking at a page of rebuttals. All they are doing is reading a script.
In theory they need to have created something, which they haven’t except…a huge division of people and players alike whom use to love chatting on the forums, a new super small player base that are oblivious to the real problems claiming there are none, and finally they have branded themselves as incompetent to most. Look at The Master Chief Collection.

In my opinion they seem to have ruined TMCC to ensure the sales of Halo 5 I mean that is what it feels like. Well I can tell you that not ONE person from the over 200 people on my list or the chain of people that our combined friends lists which equates to THOUSANDS bought Evolve (DLC madness)/Elder Scrolls Online(when it was a subscription fee based game) because of WORD OF MOUTH/MESSAGES ON FEED PAGE OF Xbox one/Redditt/Twitter/Facebook from all of us to each other and to ones we do not know that none of us are buying ANYTHING 343 because of how MCC was handled. These forums are tainted and not very informative. To the casual it looks like 343 has no idea and all of their games are broken/garbage.

We did the same thing with Battlefield Hardline, the Devs listened and now we have had a change of heart and are slowly gravitating to supporting the product due to them actually listening to what WE the community who actually buy games want. 343 still has a little itty bitty chance to make it right by fixing TMCC to its ADVERTISED STATE. Nothing less.

343 wants to release broken bugged out half functional games? Ok. We have a counter weight. We DO inform everyone we can on ALL types of social media/Feed on Xbox One/Reddit/Twitter/Twitch Streams/Messages to players in lobbies of ANY games we play/et cetera until 343 gets it right and actually does the work. Or they can continue to dig their own holes. It has been working since Elder Scrolls Online was announced to have a subscription fee…but wait THEY REMOVED IT BECAUSE WE HAVE A VOICE. Now there is NO FEE.
Listening to this will change the way games are made/handled. Proof is in the pudding cup. Not pudding pops.

These forums are tainted anyway. They are not even a real credible source for reliable information like they should be. There are only few posts that are credible. So what they can do is start actually making and supporting the games that have their name on them, not outsourcing the project. Honestly these"soft studios" being outsourced to should not be the main developer of a project.

It will take a lot of time and new groups of people to clean this up and not all the account removals in the world will fix this. It just makes people HATE 343. IDC I do not use my main for forums. But rest assured we will not be fooled by marketing schemes. We (as in You and I) are the people in control of the future of how games are created bought and sold.
We are expecting your Votes. What do you get? A chance to make companies RESPECT you and what you do with your money. Feels good. Try it.

We Do Not Kneel.

You could become president lol.

Bungie also posted on THEIR OWN forums all the time. Creating a centralised hub on thier own website to foster and grow their community.

343i cannot create a strong community if they choose to ignore that community. They cannot create a strong community if they deliberately remove the ability of the community to share with each other (looking at you, fileshare). They cannot create a strong community if they divorce themselves from community hubs, like the forge forums and aggregators like Halotracker.

And MCC seems to indicate that - when the going gets rough - they pull up chocks and resort to bi-weekly one-liners on Neogaf.
