Hot Take - This game is fun, and that's all I need

How so? I feel the exact same way. What he stated isn’t mutually exclusive. Both can exist.

Hey Dan lol saw your icon on here just wanted to say hello

Hard agree. The game is far from perfect but I’m having a blast whether it’s ranked or quick play or big team. The battlepass is slow (but already improving) but tbh I’m playing the game bc it’s fun first and foremost, I think people should reevaluate whether they need a constant stream of silly cosmetics at all times. And what’s your rush anyway? You have like six months until a new battle pass anyway. Just settle down and have fun and get to know the game. More will come.

So, we should only post criticism?

Man, this barebones release is such a letdown for me. Good for you that you enjoy this, but know that many others are very disapointed with 343. They delayed this game a year and gave us this sandbox mess filled with predatory microtransactions.

While I definitely agree it’s fun, and that’s the most important thing. Can you really blame people for wanting to actually get something out of the battle pass they purchased without having to play the game like a second job? We spent money on it.

Yup, it’s looking great, it just needs more time. People can say what they will, but No Man’s Sky has proven that a small, dedicated team can turn around one of the worst failures in video game history, and I’m hoping 343 follows that example, even if it’s not as big of a bungleup.
Plus the music rocks.

Preach it brotha! I don’t get why everyone is so fun bent on leveling stuff these days. Its like CoD introduced it years ago and no one wants to play for fun they just want to play to level and unlock.

Its sad really because that unlocking and leveling thing is really a psychological mechanic that tricks your brain like gambling. I’m glad it’s not really in this game and the BP is whatever.

I want to play for fun.

Lmao. Did you even read your statement? Its plain people need more than fun gameplay? They need to stop gaming. Gaming doesn’t exist to level. It exists to have fun and game.

Dude. Its not a game enhancement. Its literally the same affect on the mind as gambling. Its literally a trick to make money off gamers. It doesn’t enhance anything. When they use progression systems as a main facet of the game only the gamer gets screwed over because you’re being tricked into spending time/money just like crack, heroine, and gambling.

“Bad business practices don’t effect me, so they aren’t real problems. You guys are just whining. The core game is great!”

We know the core game is great. Hottest take: What if we dared to ask, what if the entire game was great?

Yes, I read it. People that are saying the gameplay is fun but the progression system makes them not want to play obviously want more than fun gameplay. It’s not that difficult to understand. They probably get enjoyment out of progression systems. I agree with your sentiments, but recognize that other people have different preferences.

I disagree, positive feedback its very helpful.

they way its being applied here and in other predatory systems commonly used i would agree. but it has that effect on people because “progression systems” are all over life, game developers didnt invent them. a core factor in the rise of video games has been the fact that that your progress in life isnt so concrete and takes significantly more time. gaining exp, getting a level, obtaining a coveted piece of gear, these are all clear sings of progression. i wouldnt accuse “Symphony of the Night” of predatory practices for including these features because of how they are implemented.

call of duty didnt invent it, its been a system in your brain longer than humans have known how to write. its the primary motivating factor in people behind food and shelter. its why you were happy when you finally learned to walk, or threw a ball the first time, or was able to ride a bike without falling. its why you celebrate birthdays, and graduating from school. to try and create a game with absolutely NO progression whatsoever would be quite the challenge and as i sit here typing this I cant think of a single example

I posted this for a discussion, as well as trying to spread some positivity about this game I’m loving. Thanks for your contribution to the discussion.

Sorry to hear it doesn’t meet your expectations. I can see why people think it’s barebones. Hope they add the meat you’re looking for in the future man!

That’s the spirit! It’ll come.

It’s been out for less than a week, and still technically in beta. Give it some time and I bet it will get there. MCC made quite the comeback as a comparison.
