hot take: halo reach is a dmr simulator

I thought i’d appreciate Reach a bit more after putting away Halo for so long but no, Reach is still just as bad as I remember it. DMR sniperfest with no need to actually engage your opponents when you can stand in the same spot and crossmap them with a starting weapon that has no range limitation or damage falloff. its boring, feels generic and one of the worst introductions to Halo for anyone in the PC community interested in the franchise.

not that 3 perfect but at least the BR is more restrained in its effectiveness at long range and dual wielding allows more variety in combat. reach is all dmr all the time. 343 could at least try to remedy this by making DMR starts less frequent instead of being on EVERY mode

I agree. Reach was not designed to have dmr as a start weapon. It makes picking up any other weapon useless and BTB is totally boring!

I’m actually here for the title and thought this:
Reach is a DMR simulator canonically, that’s why both the UNSC and the covenant have this super advanced weapons that only appeared after halo 3, because they were being tested in reach… and that’s why the fall of reach plays differently in the game and why you can customize the armor of noble 6.
