hot mic

what do you guys think about ranked lobbies disabling party chat
and forcing everyone to have a mic?

it seems like nowadays everyone will straight up have a headset on and keep the mic on mute,
rather than just simply communicating with their team. and communication would probably go a LONG
ways for everyone to pull wins with randoms while at the same time keep the lobbies memorable and fun.

I would just like to have infinite not feel so hollow and empty like 5 did tbh…

I think the issue is people just want to avoid game chat. Almost every single girl I know can’t talk in game chat because they’ll get harassed. Ditto for people with accents and speech impediments. Judging from other games Like CS it’s also hard in Europe when you might be matched with someone who doesn’t even speak the same language as you.

Then you have people who have seemingly have a jet engine in their room while they play or screaming parents/kids.

Idk if it’s possible on Xbox, but most people on PC are usually in a discord with their friends, but then will just push to talk when they need to say a call out or something. They should 100% make it so that if you want to talk to anyone not in your party, push to talk is required. There’s no way you can force game chat on PC because most people are already in game chat, just choose not to talk or mute right away.

I think you tocuhed on all gripes really well here.
Forcing mics into game chat will have more negative than positive impact as far as I’m concerned.

No thanks. Don’t wanna talk with screaming children.

Whilst I understand the theory behind wanting to get more people into game chat for more competitive modes but honestly more people would rather be in a party with their friends than be forced to talk to strangers.

I for one party up with friends who are playing different games a lot. For me to be taken away for my friends because I want to play ranked is something that would make me avoid ranked play entirely.

You don’t see forced game chat in game modes very often anymore because players generally dislike it.

I recall this being prevalent in older Call of Duty titles for Search and Destroy on the Xbox 360, but since then gaming culture/systems have changed and I’m not sure it would go over well.

Thankfully there was just confirmation of a Marking system being implemented in Halo Infinite, which will allow players to communicate crucial information without having to speak in voice chat.

I don’t think it would be received too well. Especially if you have friends playing other games at the same time etc, then all of a sudden you’re either muted or pulled from your party? I get the concept and idea, I think it would be cool, but practically I don’t think this would ever happen. It would be a very ill received addition if something like this was implemented.

I’m a competitive player and play ranked often, but I also usually just play with my brother or solo. When solo, I just go into a party by myself. Communication is very helpful and not many people use game chat, including myself. I’m a very antisocial people, I don’t like talking to people.

That being said I played Modern Warfare the other day and was using game chat. I heard alot of intersting name calling and words, but the teamwork and communication, while shaky, was there and helpful. not to mention hilarious death chat.
Idk. If Halo went the OG Dark Souls route and said screw your party chat, it’d be an uncomfortable move. Better to just have people find Spartan Companies or have the decency to speak and contribute to game chat.

Or if they were gonna do this, at least give us Discord on Xbox. Idk why the hell this hasn’t happened yet, just have Discord replace Xbox party chat.

Discord would be perfect to have on xbox.

Most girls I know get harassed when gaming with open mic, and a few guys I know who have some serious anxiety couldn’t ever handle talking in a public lobby, myself included.

Honestly nine times out of ten if I do any form of ranked, it’s with my friends and we are all in a chat like discord together

Yes, I agree with you exactly.
