Just played my first few games with the readjusted BR . First thoughts , excellent. It felt consistent and predictable and a little familiar. I really did enjoy using it . The recoil adds an extra bit of skill because it’s still difficult ( or more than the original) to get those perfects. I think in this case well done 343 to listening to the majority of the community’s concerns and comments and addressing them . Many thanks. Yet to try it in an arena situation ( to see if it’s worth dropping that magnum ) but it’s an improvement. Also for me personally it’s given me btb back as I lost all enjoyment of playing this awesome playlist with the inconsistency of the previous BR . A double win !!! Be interested to hear what other people think ? And to try it in other playlists. But for now cheers 343

I really need to get home and give it a go. By the sounds of it 343 have pretty much nailed what i wanted out of the BR. I’ll have to give it a go and see.

It is vastly improved just the sheer fact the randomness alone has been taken out was enough for me !!!
good to hear, i need to try it out
I think the scope on the variant BR’s are clunky when shooting it and the recoil was giving me motion sickness in Firefight.
Equip a Sentinel BR and DMR as your primary and secondary weapon and you’ll see the difference with scoped shooting.
I’ve never been a great player and I never really noticed the changes with the tuned or previous BR. People killed me just as quick with both versions. But at least I had a chance to get a few shots off before I was killed. Now this re-tuned tuned BR is totally unusable for a player like myself and with the population so low and the matchmaking system putting low skilled players against highly skilled players I don’t even have a chance to get a shot off before I’m farm killed. At least with the other BR’s I might have had a chance to get 5 kills. Now I’m lucky to end a game with 1.
The new re-tuned tuned BR just swings wildly and the reticle is barely visible. I’m glad I have the Halo 2 BR but it still doesn’t matter because of the matchmaking system putting me against way higher skilled players means that I’m lucky to get to level 4 in a timely enough manner that its effective against level 9 req’s used by higher skilled players. Thanks 343i for forcing another player out of the Halo 5 population. I’m not even excited to play Halo anymore, and Halo was the only reason I bought an Xbox and all the gear to go with it. At least losing used to be tolerable because I felt like I was close to getting better. Now it’s clear that I’ll never enjoy a game of Halo again.

That you are getting matched against better players is no reason to add inconsistency to a/the primary starting weapon of the game, so that in competitive play where the most skilled player should win the gun fight/game, might not anymore. That you cannot get kills on better players is a good sign of consistency, really, and that is something to strive for.
Don’t get me wrong. But it is better to focus on what the real problem behind your lack of kills is. And that is not your lack of skills, but rather, as you said, it is the combination of the lack of players and the matchmaking’s fault.
MC VS ARBITER Oh man, I’m getting farm killed like it’s harvest time !! I’ve never claimed to be a great player, and I do try to improve. I’ve watched all the tips video’s I’ve posted in the forums for advice I’ve done everything possible to think faster and play smarter, but yeah. At the end of the day I’m being matched against players that are way above my skill level and no matter what req I do pull out I’m dead before I can use it. Last night with the BR update I didn’t even have a chance to get the reticle on a player before I was dead. All these changes so close together don’t help either. Once I’ve adjusted to something that works for my skill level, it’s changed again and the farming happens all over again.
If anything the re-tuned tuned BR is inconsistent because I’m being killed unfairly. My shots don’t have the same affect as my opponents do.
The BR could shoot out meatballs and pasta sauce for all I care. I just want to play a fair game, and that’s not even the case anymore. The changes and the unfair game play don’t even help the microtransction portion of the game because no matter what I buy or use I’m dead right away so there’s no point in buying req’s now. I’m getting killed so fast that my req level doesn’t even increase to keep pace with the game, so again the req and micro transaction are useless. I’m stuck against players I can’t challenge with weapons I can’t use. Nice one 343i.

If you play with a squad of players similar to your own level/skill then your game should be a bit better for you. Solo queing in Warzone can definitely be hit or miss because you’re more likely to be put against a skilled team. Honestly the best “advice” is to feel the push and pull of a match: if you’re base/position is being pushed then definitely don’t run into the open or pick lopsided fights even if you have a req. Having a req on you doesn’t mean much if the player can out match you.
I’d be more than happy to run some WZ with you and hopefully give a better picture of it.

I’m not the best player either. But I can handle my own in warzone, particularly warzone assault.
I see youre in a canadain company. If you wanna play with someone from Alberta let me know. I will gladly run some games with you and I have a lot of players to game with.
There is a major skill gap in most warzone games now from the best player to the worst on any team. It can make it very frustrating for some players.
I understand your difficulties in warzone. But random bullet spread cannot be used to lower skill gap. There are other ways around it. Lots of fun still to be had in halo 5.
Thank you whitedoom56 and Nofunnyideas for your positive replies. Definitely look forward to a PM from me taking you up on your offers. I started the company last year because I had no idea what it all meant and thought it would be fun. Still after a year of playing I’m still figuring it all out. So frustrating at times

I’m from Alberta also, Calgary.
It doesn’t matter if the br is good now, people are still only using pistols. And to be honest the halo 5 pistol is overpowered.
I can conclude that the H5 BR is finally usable again. The strong vertical recoil may be a bit jarring at first, but it’s now consistent and predictable in its performance.
The only thing I don’t like is it’s rate of fire. It’s just a tiny bit too slow. Most other equivalent weapons can out shoot it with perfect shots, and ESPECIALLY the light rifle unscoped.
The BR was perfect in its original form. The matchmaking search times are still busted for Big Team Battle. Overall, this is a disappointing update.

Living up to your name , but with the bugs that’s followed with this update and the fact they had to rethink the BR totally I’m inclined to agree .
It’s been a long time since I’ve played Halo… And most of my posts have been, “I only play Halo”, or “Halo was the only reason I even bought an Xbox”, etc…
But after the first weapons update, and how 343 royally messed up the BR (Magnum Pistol beats BR in long range) -yeah logic… I have been curious to see if this latest update has done anything to fix this??
I just logged into waypoint today to see if there were more threads on this topic. Are there more players thanking 343 for correcting their horribly massive weapon tune update??? Or are there still folks that hate it?

Yeah it’s true that 343 totally messed the sandbox balancing up with the retuned BR but the AR is better now in my opinion and the latest version of the BR is ok. I as many do give 343i a lot of stick ( deservable so ) I personally have given them a lot of negative feedback and the feedback from the community is finally appearing to sink in. So in order to affect change we need to shout about what we don’t like and give small thanks on the occasions they get things right so we all get a halo game we’d like . That’s the only reason I’m thanking them on this occasion if you check my other posts you can see I’m still shouting about the multiple problems still prevalent within halo 5 .
The new BR is nice and the vertical recoil lets me aim around the top of the chest to control it yet still get head shots with the last burst (this isn’t an issue, the vertical recoil kicks it up enough to hit the head). This is definitely a step in the right direction, still prefer the magnum though
