Hosting my own online cash tournament for Halo 3

Hey guys, looking for some advice and help with hosting a cash tournament. I’m looking to start my own online cash tournament platform, starting with halo 3 and Halo 2 Anniversary and hopefully branching out from there. I wanted to start this because I love the older competitive scene of halo and so many amazing fond memories, I thought there would be a big enough community to have these events. Just had a bunch of questions was hoping someone could give me some advice and feedback, i’d appreciate it.

I live in Ontario so i’m not quite sure the legality of it, i wont be taking any profit from buy-in’s so i think i’m okay. Below is the information i’ve written down that I would include. Anything you see or would change or like feel free to comment.

Information on it
-One bracket per round will be live streamed on Twitch
-Any Twitch donations/subscriptions during the event will be divided up as such, 50% to a gaming charity, 25% back to the players for the cash prize and 25% put towards the next cash tournament (I will not be taking any money for this tournament as I want to put any money into the tournament platform to help develop it).
-Teams will consist of 4 players
-Buy in per team is 200$ (one leader per team is in charge of submitting the total buy in)
-100% of all buy in for players will be going back to you guys (I will not be taking any money from buy in’s)

Format
-Single elimination bracket
-Each match will consist of a best 2/3
-The winning team should take a picture of the score after each game for evidence purposes in case there is any dispute on who won or lost as well as a participant on the winning team with a challonge account can update on the tournament chat
-Each bracket will be playing the same game level and game type (these will change of course from game 1, 2 and 3)
-Each lower seed team on the bracket is required to join with the higher seed team’s leader game in your bracket
-Each game will start on time whether a team or team member is ready or not. If a team is late to start a match, they will receive an automatic game 1 loss (please take a picture of the team loss). After 15 minutes, the team who is still late will receive an automatic match loss (again take another picture)

How cash will be divided up for 200$ buy in

4 teams-800$ 1st=70% 2nd=30% or can be winner take all if agreed upon by all teams

8 teams= 1600$ 1st=60% 2nd=30% 3rd=10%
16 teams=3200$ 1st=50% 2nd=25% 3rd=15% 4th=10%
and continue on from there.

So my questions for this.

Do you think there is enough interest out there to do these tournaments for halo 3 and halo 2 anniversary?

What type of buy-in should I be looking at for a first time, 100, 200 or 400$?

Should i do regular team slayer with objectives or should i do MLG with slayer and objectives? I’m leaning towards MLG with slayer objectives since that’s what people are familiar with for the competitive scene.

What buy in cash set up should i use? Either e-transfer, Paypal or Stripe (problem with Paypal and stripe is transaction fees, problem with e-transfer is people trusting someone else with their money but there is no transaction fees)? I will be using Challonge.com for the bracket layout and Stripe is already connected with that website for use of users.

Where could I advertise this to get the word out?

Think that’s about it, If you are interested in participating in this event as a team or even single (if we get enough single players i will form a team for them), feel free to pm me and when i have everything set up and a date i will let you know. Thanks so much everyone i’d appreciate any advice.

My advice would be to ask the people on this forum about it since they have experience running tournaments and playing in them.

Awesome thanks for the response
