“I always thought that in pre game if you hit X and if your name was on top of the roster list you had host? As this changed?”
I asked this question because my name has been on the top of the list for a couple of days now while I have been in match making. Being host has not always been to my advantage, in fact it feels like a hindrance more often than not.
I never had noticed the rings around an ordnance drop until someone from the past post informed me, thanks.
Something must have changed with my provider or something, this last week I kept getting host 14 out of 15 games.
I am not complaining about pulling host all the time and don’t plan on changing a thing. I just thought it was a bigger advantage to have host. I only feel 4-7 games I have the advantage.
I am on my 10 game today and have had host every time, I which I knew what had changed, so I can do it again?
Thanks for the comments.

Seriously, play Grifball and you’ll feel the advantage. You might be playing against people that live close, or in the same area as you, casing you to pull host over them? If you have a somewhat new xbox, that could be why you are pulling host. In any case, it’s strange that you randomly started getting host. Sometimes, this happens to me, were I’ll pull host most games for a day or two.

Grifball is the biggest time to feel it, since you seem to have better range/timing than the opponent. In Slayer, it is often a matter of who sees who first, so it is a little harder to tell. SWAT sometimes is another time host is an advantage, as I barely see them coming around a corner and they get off 2-3 shots before I can squeeze off a round.

Right…
Anyway, I actually did not know the person on top was host. I must keep that in mind.

If someone lacks the awareness to notice the massive advantage (and it is a massive advantage) they have on host then there is next to 0 chance of that person being even a remotely competent player.
That is not directed at anyone, it is just a general point to note. Having host = massive advantage.

Clearly you have never played on LAN. The person that is on the xbox that is hosting the game (i.e host) has a decent advantage. Not as big an advantage as if it was online, but an advantage still exists.
Please do not comment on things you do not understand, it makes you look silly.

Oops, tapped the glass.
I played on LAN all the time in H3. You’re just regurgitating something you read somewhere and have no actual working knowledge of how LAN works. You cannot physically notice the host advantage on LAN. You can only do it on benchmarks or closed testing because the time delay is so miniscule.
But tell us more oh great and wise random kid no one’s heard of.

You can easily feel the difference between playing on the hostbox and playing a different xbox. Shot connect better and at greater ranges. Like has been said before, not by a lot, but it is noticeable when going between the 2.
