We need a new name for this!! Sounds too much like Spec Ops in MW2. I know Halo isn’t copying, but the name sucks. What should we call it guys?!

What do you mean “we”? “We” dont decide what it is going to be called. Besides, its the perfect name, you know COD didnt invent the word operations or the abbreviation for it right?
I don’t see a problem with the name at all.

No need to keep them to yourself, just present your idea with a little more poise. As opposed to sounding abrasive, pose it a question and ask for feedback.
Perhaps:
“I am not sure I am too keen on the name Spartan Ops. I realize I do not know what it all entails at this current time, but the name just irks me slightly. Does anyone else feel this way as well?”
I personally do not mind the name, but I hope the example helps.

People denying that it doesn’t sound like a well-known COD mechanic are kidding themselves. Nobody claims COD invented the term, but it’s synonymous with their brand. Announcing it as “Spartan Ops” along with other familiar COD mechanics immediately puts a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths including me (There’s a reason Machinima teased about the name.)
The concept is superior to that of the simple point A to point B Spec Ops missions of COD, but when you’re lead foot is to call it something so similar, it’s disturbing.
Have more pride in your work 343i. Claim it as your own.

It could be a place holder, chill.
Spec Ops isn’t story driven or episodic, 343 isn’t copying COD though others will copy after Halo 4. Though i am not the biggest fan of the name, i also believe it’s place holder. At least i hope it is.
Its growing on me nonetheless and i would rather know how it will play out rather than get upset over a name.

Spartan Ops is fine. Sure there are other things it could be named but Spartan Ops is fine.

If Spartan Ops is just a placeholder name that’s fine. If it’s the real name then that’s fine with me too.

Sounds much better than Spartan Ops
It’s not the greatest or most original name in the world, however it’s the quality that matters over the name.
Also, the game’s over six months from release. A lot can change between now and then!
