Halo 4 was really disappointing in many, many ways… One of those reasons that was particularly annoying was that there were no Human air vehicles in multiplayer. So, my question is what do you hope to see in Halo 5? Personally, I think the Hornet would be the better vehicle to make its return. As cool as the Falcon was, the pilot was pretty helpless, and you cannot really coordinate with the gunners.
Would you rather disagree? Or is there another idea you would have for the vehicles?
But ideally I’d like to see the Banshee and Hornet work as light air vehicles while the Falcon and the Vampire from Halo wars could work as heavy air vehicles.
There’d be a ton of tweaking required but I think that if it were to be done right it’d really open up and expand Halo’s air vehicle combat.
> As cool as the Falcon was, the pilot was pretty helpless,
Just like the Warthog drivers?
> and you cannot really coordinate with the gunners.
And the people in Gamestop were wondering why I was crying when I walked a month after the XB1 launch and found 20 ‘used’ XB1 headsets in a bin for sale.
On topic: If I had to pick one? The Falcon.
The Hornet and the Banshee are too similar in roles and bringing the Hornet back would just add a reskin with slight tweaks.
Maybe if more was done to really set the Banshee and the Hornet in their roles as a jet and an attack helicopter then I might be interested in getting all three in a sandbox.

When you say heavy air vehicles, I’m thinking AC-130s.
How many times have you seen someone get a Splatter with a Falcon? Warthog drivers are still plenty deadly, but Falcon pilots, for the most part, have to rely on their gunners, who in turn, rely on the pilot to keep the enemies in range. But since neither can see what the other is doing, it is hard to do unless you can actually talk to each other, but how often does THAT happen?

Plenty.

Because they can splatter?
Honestly? Taking the Warthog out without a gunner because people are under the impression it’s easier to try and go for splatters than it is to get a passenger to gun is a waste of a perfectly good vehicle and a free kill gifted to the enemy team.

Maybe MS should go the next step and physically glue the microphone into the controller so that people can’t sell it and then cop out about not communicating.

I never said anyone should go without a gunner… That’s dumb!
Both air vehicles were super fun. They both were good in different situations. The Falcon was great for teamwork while the Hornet was just fun to fly around and gun people down. I wouldn’t mind to see both of them.

Yeah, and it would be funny if they actually let you use rocket pods in multiplayer on the Hornet this time.

the main things I think are the inclusion of the two different variants of falcon in the multiplayer. and making it so the pilot isn’t helpless by himself.
and as far as the hornet goes… why take away rockets? banshee has its banshee bomb, hornet should have its rockets.

You made it sound like you want the Falcon to be its full Campaign version, which would completely dominate in Matchmaking. Also, riders in a Hornet are very optional, and it is more of a transport device than anything. There is no way they should have infinite ammo.

ok yes I agree that infinite ammo for passengers would be OP. but hornet should still have rockets if it is put in MM, and the falcon should AT LEAST have the forward mounted gun for the pilot to defend himself with, even if it is a weakened version, and i very much enjoyed the grenade launcher falcon and was sad to see that it wasnt in MM in reach, so I really want to see that in MM, even if it doesnt have the EMP capability it had in reach.
And also if we are talking about troop transport, we should at least be able to fill the seats in between the guns. akin to the transport hog in H3. they wouldnt be able to shoot or anything mind you, but they would be transported. They will literally be passengers.
Im sorry if my post was unclear. the point I was trying to get across is that these vehicles, even if they are weakened, should still retain their original design from campaign. restricting the functions of a vehicle for the sake of balancing it, to me anyways, is just a cheap shortcut.
So the falcon in the campaign could have either a grenade launcher or a machine gun on the side. and always had a forward mounted chain-gun. and could carry what, 4 people on the interior?
ok. So the way to balance it? Make base damage lower for the chain gun, and remove the EMP capability of the grenade variant, and make it so only one person can sit in the center area This way, in a 8v8 (or even 6v6 environment) BTB environment, you as the pilot never transporting more than half your team at one time. and the pilot can still get around and defend himself.
I don’t mind which one returns. I prefer the falcon because it required more teamwork in my opinion, and teamwork is at the core of Halo. However, I would really love to see a new UNSC air vehicle.
