Hornet in FireFight Update? (outdated)

Now, i recently discovered that , while reading Grim Brother one’s post on the hog wild update , I discovered something about the description of the new Stinger Helmet, it reads -

“Developed in conjunction with the AV-49 Attack VTOL, the STINGER-class Mjolnir helmet has two neural interface controllers that allows the Spartan operator to switch from flight to ground combat modes at the speed of thought”

Now, the interesting part is that a VTOL is mentioned. Also, bare in mind that there was a lot of content held back for the Fire Fight update. Although it is largely unknown what a AV-49 Attack VTOL actually is, At first I thought that it might be something similar to what was featured in Spartan strike as that is also referred to as a VTOL, The Hornet from halo 3 is actually considered a “AV-14 Attack VTOL” . So i think we will be getting something very similar to a hornet.

Some evidence supporting this would be the naming of other remade UNSC Vehicles, e.g The Scorpion in Halo 1-4 being named a “M808 Main battle Tank” and the one in Halo 5 being named a “M820 Main Battle Tank” , and the same applies to the pelican : In halo 4 and 5 its called a “D79H-TC” and in Halo CE and 2 a - “D77H-TC”. all of these newer names from halo 5 seem to be, lore-wise different versions of these vehicles so , we wont directly be getting a hornet, but something similar that will be referred to as a hornet, like the two scorpions i have already mentioned.

And just to top it all off - the name of the armour was going to be called “wasp” which kind of fits with the name “hornet”.

So in conclusion, even if everything i wrote was bogus and that we are not getting another version of the hornet like we did with the scorpion and pelican , we be can very sure that we are going to FINALLY get a UNSC aircraft.

Quick note: the sparrowhawk is called a AV-22 Attack VTOL so we might be getting a Hawk! credit to darkAssasinDRC for sparking the idea

so ,what do YOU think about my theory at a hornet in the firefight update? , post your responses here

Well i would be happy if 343 brought back the hornet

Maybe not the hornet, but a UNSC air vehicle.

There are several armors that mention UNSC air vehicles. You’ll note we don’t have any. I wouldn’t hold my breath.

I think it would be easier to include the sparrowhawk, it would be similar to the phaeton, with another skin and weapons.

This is something I noticed as well. However, I wouldn’t be waiting or expecting anything yet, or ever for that matter.

great pick up, great theory. I do think 343 isnt stupid enough not to give us the hornet considered that there has been such an outcry for one. Also I think the would solve many issues that the falcon would of had because the hornet if a different version like you said and I’d strongly agree with could easily have boosts it thrusters amd would be a very effective vehicle. My only worry would be that the hornet would be like a phaeton. Also I think hornet and stinger is almost evidence enough lol. Lets just hope we don’t get let down.

Do you really have THAT little faith in 343?
I’m sure we’ll eventually get something , even if it isn’t a hornet .
However given my writing up there, i think it was just held back for firefight.

With all the outcry (remember the falcon incident) I think there will be a UNSC air vehicle coming in the next update, however most likely it will be new or a whole new revamp of a vehicle we do know.

The details about the helmets are just provided to give a deeper feel to the Halo lore. They don’t indicate the vehicles will actually be in the game.

(Would love it if they were though).

That is a good assumption, but I doubt we will get it.

A Falcon would be good if they also gave it an “evade” boost like the Phaeton’s. This way, it would be a little more fair against the new lock on weapons.

Well, fair point, and to find an example of this, we needn’t look any further than the humble Aviator armour, saying that its been customized for broadswords, this means my entire theory is screwed , right? Probably not, actually . while the the broadsword isn’t a drivable vehicle, it is still canon and exists within halo lore, however the AV49-Attack VTOL is something that no-one has ever heard of before and only became “lore” when people saw it on the helmet. Do you really think 343 would make up an entire vehicle concept just for a helmet? If you ask me I’d say that i think the “AV-49 Attack VTOL” was meant to be released WITH the stinger helmet in the same update, but ended up being one of the items held back for polish - which would make sense because vehicles probably take more effort to make than armour.

Don’t take this the wrong way , i love it when people give me feedback on something I’ve done

Well , a great theory , and i could well see it coming - given the outcry for a UNSC aircraft , it would be stupid to not add one. although i would have wanted a sparrow hawk .but i am still thankful for a hornet.

according to the wikia the sparrowhawk is also a vtol and has experimental propulsion systems (evade issue solved) which means it would still be a viable option. I do think the sparrowhawk would be a much better addition because of its speed and cool design as well as the front laser gun (don’t know what it is called). I however think it will be the hornet instead because of the correlation between stinger and hornet.

HOLY MOLY, THE SPARROW HAWK IS named AV-22 Attack VTOL, WE MIGHT BE GETTING HAWK!!! but yea its most likely going to BEE a hornet

ive updated the post with the sparrow hawk thing and just made it a bit clearer.
