Hornet Addition Possible

Many people complain about the fact that the Hornet/Falcon is not in the game. While it’s not possible to add them to the vanilla maps, it’s possible to add them into the matchmaking versions, then let people download them from their temporary history.

The way maps work in Halo is that all the assets, the armor, weapons, vehicles, everything is in the map file itself. They could add the Hornet to an already existing map and put the map in matchmaking. From there, players can download this map and use it for customs or whatever they wish.

Let’s take Impact for example. It has no Hornet. 343 can simply add the Hornet to Impact’s bipeds, then release the “Impact V2” in a file share or on Matchmaking.

This can’t be done to add new armor.

So, 343, why don’t you do this to appease the people complaining? I assume it wouldn’t take much, it’s not like designing a whole new map. Simply take the Hornet from Skyline, give it a collision tree, and copy most of the Hornet’s code from Halo 3. If anything, just release V2s of Impact, Ravine, and Erosion with them.

343 pls.

I am in agreement with this proposal, but I also think 343i should focus on the already existing problems before focusing on another potential one (in case they release the hornet and people say its too op or up, or its glitched/doesnt work). That would just add something else onto their plate.

Actually I’m pretty sure you’d have to download the actual map again, I don’t think it’s possible to simply download it through the File Browser.

I think they need to add more aerial vehicles for Big team infinity slayer.

That wouldn’t work. The “maps” that you find in matchmaking aren’t actual map files, but only small files read by the game to know what Forge changes have been done to the map. If you wanted to add a new vehicle onto a map, you’d have to download the whole map again.

Wouldn’t work. For one, there is no code for a Hornet in the game. They would have to write a whole new code, and create all new animations (for entering/exiting the vehicle and such), which is just a waste of time and resources. Secondly, they can’t just add it in, they need to rewrite the entire maps files to be able to support the aircraft. An update to to do this would literally be as large as the game itself, which is unproductive. Video game companies like 343 don’t waste time and money on unproductive things that please a small minority.

TL;DR: Not possible, quit complaining and cross your fingers for Halo 5.

That’s if they wanted to continuously add new content to every map, not add a single vehicle to a single new map. You don’t have to re-write the entire game to do so, entities are tied to maps.

New vehicles to new maps isn’t a problem, but the OP is suggesting that 343i add new vehicles into old maps through matchmaking, which is impossible.

Other people starting yet another thread on this subject? I’ve already explained why it isn’t possible to add the Hornet into the existing maps on this thread.

I’m not saying it can’t be done on future maps, but not on the EXISTING maps without an update to re-code them all. And that would be one huge update to download.

Wouldn’t have this problem if Halo 4 actually shipped complete. I bet they removed all this content just to fit spartan ops, which is pointless because spartan ops is now DLC anyways.

My suggestion though is for them to release a Forge world with new weapons and vehicles, and actually decent looking pieces. Then everyone can be satisfied until Halo 5 comes around.

I’m not disagreeing with you, because that’s what I’ve heard elsewhere, But what about the map changes Bungie did? Like SAND TARP–that was unforgeable change. True, the removed something in that case, but why wouldn’t it work in reverse?

Those changes weren’t forgeable for us, but Bungie had explained that they used a special version of Forge that only they had access to in order to make those changes. Some people have played around with the Beta of Halo 3 and found a way to activate Forge in it, and showed that the shield doors and turrets on Snowbound were Forge objects, while they were not in the final build. However, Bungie must have still had access to the ability to remove them. It’s safe to assume that the same is true with the changes done to Sand Tarp and other variants like those.

New vehicles can only be added via new map packs. And then only on these new maps. So yes, on new BTB maps new vehicles are indeed possible. And the Hornet should return.

Yes the Hornet/Falcon should return.
