When I set them to 5 ver and 5 hor, horizontal feels much faster even though they are the same. Is this the case?

I know this does not answer your exact question, but when you use the default numbers the vertical designation is always twice that of the horizontal. If you set the default sens to 5 it equates to 2.5 hor and 5 vert. In your example the custom vert setting is only half of what it was with the original default setting. That could be why it “feels” slower. As to your specific question, I’m not sure if the horizontal vs vertical stick input to movement output is identical for identical number designations.
Yes it’s a very weird “system”. I don’t know the specifics, I’m sure someone can correct me or explain it better, but just to give you an idea:
Im fairly sure halo 5s aiming system has two “spheres” for aiming on the thumb stick. This is why it can be awkward and unpredictable, or unstable when you are aiming diagnally. I’m not 100% sure on how it works, again someone else should know better, I’m just opening up the discussion.
What completely escapes me is why they changed it, the aiming in halo was always perfect, every fps, especially competitive ones use the system previous halos use (to my knowledge), why did 343 change it? The beta had it, and no one asked for it to be changed??
I didn’t understand that you were talking about the mechanics of the whole aiming system. That’s a much more in depth discussion involving turning vs aiming, acceleration and dead zones. And yeah, many people agree it’s a very weird system. It’s been discussed pretty thoroughly in previous posts. Some of them even suggest various settings to try based on your style of play and preferences.
Yes the system is designed like that I’m guessing g based on all the default sensitivities always being mismatched like that.
Also for me I tend to have it like that in other games where I can control both. I think in overwatch they are h20 v15. Not as different from one another than in h5, but it feels smoother when they are like that.
