Playing MCC and Halo 5 back to back, I hope Infinite utilizes both ideas in smart way.
Separate Arena mode- This would be more competitive style most closely relating to Halo 5 maps. Arena style maps with more close quarters action. - Normal Multiplayer- Go back to beautiful levels made from the ground up like Halo CE, 2, and 3. Being able to remember the names because they’re so distinct rather than meshing them all together with tiny differences in like in 5. - Forge maps are great, but Reach started a trend where most maps I’d see in matchmaking were built in Forge. I prefer detailed maps that have a story and personality I.e. Blood Gulch, Headlong, High Ground. Also in world boundaries like the turrets in Snowbound or mines in Sand Trap would be an awesome comeback. - MCCs multiplayer is crushing it right now and I think it’s way more than nostalgia. Halo 3 had an incredible balance to it and I’d love the main multiplayer to feel like that again. - Achievements and Unlockable Content: Let’s get away from loot boxes and paying for all cosmetics and go back to VidMaster style achievements that only the determined can wear as a badge of honor. The day I equipped that Katana, I felt as if I was part of an elite group. (No pun intended) Helioscrull armor gave me a high close to that, but having something to work toward alone, with friends, PvP, PvE, it just felt like a game within the game.

My preference would be closer to Halo 5 than Halo 3.
Agree that maps need style and character. Most of the Halo 5 maps play very well… but have a very samey aesthetic. I also like maps that have a distinctive centre-piece - something that gives the map an identity (an aquarium, a moving crane, a lava flow etc). And the more dynamic bits the better
Forge maps can be great - and I am hoping that the new Forge is even better. I can’t wait to see what the talented Forgers can do. Seeing as Slipspace will have been developed with Forge in mind I am hoping that Forge maps will be nigh on indistinguishable from a developer map.
Love it when people run around showing off stupid peacocky helmets. Makes it all the sweeter for the T-bag.
You’re not going to get away from paid cosmetics. They’re making the multiplayer free to play for some baffling reason so they’ll need some way to make money and cosmetics are it.

The reason is audience; simple as. Look at all the grumbles about matchmaking issues in H5/MCC they all come down to population size.
I suspect however that OP’s suggestion about earned Cosmetics will also be right given what we’re seeing in MCC. If the MP is F2P and certain cosmetics need to be earned in the campaign, it might encourage people to subscribe to Game Pass and they may even stay then… There will also obviously be directly purchased cosmetics too

> Halo Infinite just needs to avoid anything Halo 4 and 5 did and it’ll be on it’s way to something decent.
That’s a deeply unhelpful statement. Both games have huge strengths alongside glaring weaknesses. Sure H4’s MP leaves a lot to be desired, but H5’s MP is a very strong offering

No, you are not.
Games like Halo are going to need a large population to sustain it.
And it needs to go against the grain - someone mentioned on another thread that Halo is seen as an older player’s game. The best way to get the younger population to try it is to give it away for free.
And GamePass has thrown everything up in the air. It’s a new funding / distribution model. I imagine more studios will head towards F2P and microtransactions to fund ongoing maintenance, server costs, and DLC.
I’m going to be a bit different and picky here, but take out the annoying audio from Halo 5.
So what do i mean?
The irritating sound of the running, the headshot, the frag grenades bouncing etc.
Probably a weird complaint to some but the sound effects of various things in Halo 5 was very irritating and grinded on my ears. A return of the more classic audio would be excellent.
(Legit can’t remember the audio from the Halo Infinite gameplay reveal).
I wonder what the post game carnage report is going to improve from H5’s? I wish MCC had the H5 carnage report, it has a couple extra details that I miss when I’m on MCC.
Would be nice if they put Forge maps in their own playlist and only put the ones that are very popular among the community in general rotation. Also, I hope they back off from how hyper competitive Halo 5 was and return to a more even experience like Halo 3 had. I think the efforts 343i are seemingly putting in the game to slow it down a bit and make it more dynamic by bringing back equipment will help a lot, but a fleshed out social and ranked mode is a must. Matchmaking composer should 100% return.
Forge maps can do a ton for the community. Most of my favorite memories of Halo were within UGC. Adding further depth to this content could push engagement further, such as adding [timed] leaderboards for custom maps (either available for download or in rotation for matchmaking). Celebrating this content, by highlighting it in multiplayer, adding deeper capabilities, and rewarding the creators, will expand the team of people developing this game.
one of my biggest hopes is since the MP is gonna be F2P and probably have a battlepass of sort to not put stupid stuff like in Fortnite or apex they have 100 tiers of wich there are 10 skins, 10 emotes, and like 80 sticker or does cards that apex have that count how many kills/ wins one have each season per character. I really would love if everything is good stuff, shoes, pants, helmets, arms, shoulders, accesories, backpacks, skin/colors for armor, weapons and visors, nameplates, assessinations, armor effects, couple of 2xp tokens and watever currency they end up using.
I really hate seing a battlepass and see that 70 out of a 100 rewards im not even gonna use. MCC is really doing a great job with their seasons.
