Is it me or is Halo 4 Spartans a huge step back from halo reaches Spartans? The halo 4 Spartans looked to clean and bubble looking to me for some reason? The halo reach ones looked more rugged and dirty. I hope halo 5 fixes this. Also the visors need to have that shinny chrome/ mirror reflection.
You be the judge.

That’s more of the art style than it is the graphics.
The art style is what makes the graphics in games look great.
Reach’s art style is my least favorite. I mostly prefer Halo 3’s.
I remember a while back Frankie said halo 5 graphics is halo 4 times 2. Thinking that the graphics are probably going to be amazing. I wish I had a link to the video but can’t find the vid.
The armor worn in Reach was suppose to be beat up and rugged; it had been through hell. The Spartan IVs wear brand new armor.
Also, my Mark V helmet in 4 is pretty rough looking around the edges and by the vents.
One thing though–and your screenshot confirms this–the new red and blue colors look more like pink vs. periwinkle.
I’d say the Reach Spartan’s textures look really blurry in that picture. His armor also looks like its clipping a bit with the arm.
H4’s graphics are a lot sharper and cleaner than reach’s, though I definitely preferred Reach’s art style and colouring.
I actually liked 2/3/4’s style much more than Reach. IMO, Reach had the worst art style of the Halos.
The artstyle used for the armors in Reach are my favorite; they are more rugged and seem much more complementary to a super soldier’s image. Halo 4’s is certainly different; my favorite part about it is the molding of the armor around the Spartan. It is no longer melded into the undersuit like in the previous games; a nice graphical improvement. I dislike many of the new exotic armor schemes and the lack of the traditional gold visor. Legendary is essentially the same one, but I’m disapointed in their decision to alter it.
I’m hoping the colored undersuit becomes a toggleable option, as well as the choice of using the codpiece.
Halo 4’s multiplayer is canon to the Halo universe, whereas Halo Reach’s isn’t. In Halo 4, the War Games multiplayer is a holographic training simulation for the Spartan IV’s to use and perfect their combat skills. Therefore the armour will always look clean cut and brand new.

Yes it is. Read the armor descriptions in Reach. Explain why you can wear it in campaign. Reach’s suits and mods are canon.

That isn’t what he meant. The Armor is certainly canon, but the Spartan v. Spartan engagements in random locations across campaign battlefields are not. Halo 4’s War Games is a simulator, justifying why we have teams of red and blue spartans gunning each other down. Practice.
With that said, taking the “Multiplayer is Canon” route has diminished the content and quality, sadly.
I second this. Reach looked absolutely beautiful, so did Halo 3. I really hope 343 changes the art direction in Halo 5. Halo 4 while a graphical masterpiece was an aesthetic blunder on many levels especially with the colors and terrain.
Forge island was a freaking joke.
definitely perfer reaches art style and armor over halo 4, i really liked the gritty realistic look of it. along with the practicle attachments of the armor it was by far my favorite style in a halo game.

I liked how they said we could measure the islands to make sure they were flat, and they weren’t flat.

I would say you missed my point completely, but SilverStreak0 beat me to it.

> 4’s, by a mile.
I agree the design of armor in Halo 4 is just awful. Most of the armor looks like poorly made, cheap cosplay garbage to me. Then you have helmets with no visors, ridiculous shoulder armor made of a bunch of circles, and horrible remakes of armors from previous games (Mark VI in Halo 4 is a joke). The Spartans also look way too scrawny and weak. Spartans in all the previous games just looked more like actual super soldiers.

I agree with most designs in 4 looking hideous including all the reject forerunner looking ones along with the spiky or alien ones or the ones with no flippin visor, yes completely agree. However the actual physical design of the Spartans is vastly superior in 4. They look more functional, flexible and athletic.

Physical design? You mean how they all have far less muscle and are scrawnier then before, and how the females are just smaller anorexic looking males?
