Hope assassinations can be turned off!

Some thing that always frustrated me in Reach was when you didn’t want to assassinate someone but just wanted to beat them down because you were either in traffic or behind more than one enemy so you tap the button/stick and you still perform an assassination. Then you get killed before you can finish or immediately there after.

I hope they have an option to be turned off or at least increase the time you have to hold the button/stick.

Huh, you have enought time to decide to assassinate you enemy or just kill him.

I didn’t think assassinating enemies was up to chance. I thought it was up to you whether you held melee or not. I mean, that’s always been the deal for me, but maybe I haven’t really paid enough attention.

It’s very inconsistent for me. Maybe it has to do with my controller, but I don’t know. I think it would be a great option to toggle on/off.

You are absolutely correct. I just think the difference is too small. I’ve honestly made sure I just clicked, or obviously thought I did, and still assassinated.

I use the right stick to melee so maybe that has some thing to do with it. I’m not a pro but I’m not so bad that i don’t understand the difference. Not saying you were inferring that but you know how people are here. (Your k/d ratio is only 1.3 you don’t have a right to an opinion) lol.

I just would like to see the ability to turn it off or make the hold longer.

Accidental assassinations were rare for me but then again, that could be because there was hardly any real pressure in the campaign.

It should definitely be able to be turned off.

I think some of the inconsistency may be due to lag/connections. If you experience delay, there will be more time between when you tap the melee button to when you actually punch, and if you hold down the button until you see a punch you’d end up doing an assassination. Being able to toggle assassination behavior would definitely be great. Or if they made it more consistent. Though there isn’t much room for the hold to be longer, since assassinations are in close-quarters combat and the enemy/target may be moving out of range if you can’t activate the assassination quickly enough.

I honestly never thought about the lag side of it. Just seems like there were times when I was coming up behind 2 people or just 1 and I knew they had a teammate close so I made sure I just clicked the stick and still the assassination was performed. Of course there’s been times where I just KNEW I shot someone in the face and they didn’t die too so I’ll take some blame ;).

Point is still I hope we have an option to not perform assassinations and only beat down.

I never have this problem when i play, but then again i do use boxer control scheme…

It’s happened to me a few times were I’ve had the flag and just want the simple beat down. However what ended up happening was that I went into the animation, dropping the flag which then ended up being recovered by the guy I was assassinating. It led to some quite frustrating times but I took some amusement out of it afterwards.

Personal use: unknown, old or dirty controllers can cause the button to stick.
Settings: it’s a toggle-able option

Assassinations are some of the best looking things in halo 4 and besides you can just beat down people by tapping the melee button not holding it down to perform the assassination.

Maybe you just have fat stubby fingers and need to figure out what the word “tap” means.

It feels way better when you jump off a building/ledge and you assasinate the guy than when you just hit the guy in the back… But i can see what you are getting at… TOGGLE IT!!! Anyways… who is the justin bieber troll dude:?

I have had it happen to me so many times, and it is always at the most inopportune time. I find it happens more when I am in the air. If I jump and try to beat down someone while in the air, it will do the air assassination animation. I would say that the majority of the assassinations that I have in Reach are accidental.

If we can have the ability to toggle it on/off for ourselves, then that would be great!

Exactly. I don’t want them removed at all. I like them. They look great and at times are fun. Just a toggle is all.

P.S. This is one of those things that if it doesn’t happen I would still enjoy the game. Not a deal breaker.
