Why when that would just be incredibly lazy and not guarantee whatever comes next would be any better? Just let Infinite do it thing and circle back to the 4/5 plot points and beats put on the sidelines.
The biggest issue with the characters was that they were poorly written that’s why people don’t like them. People are open to new characters if they are well written, look at the Arbiter story we got from Halo 2. Halo 5’s story suffered from fan service and a writer who didn’t understand Halo. If they do bring back characters they need a reason to be there not because of fan service or to fit a game mechanic. If Locke didn’t have the personality of a soggy piece of cardboard he could have been a great character. Since Halo Infinite is gonna be around for 10 years they might bring them back and hopefully do their character some justice.
