Honestly....where is the hype for this game?

I’m watching all the big games coming out in the next 30 days or so, and the advertising on them have really kicked up big time.

The one you don’t seen ANYTHING about is Halo Wars 2?

The only thing we have heard anything about is the multiplayer modes, and the campaign has all but ignored in the very few things we have heard.

You would think this would be front and center with Microsoft, but I’m wondering if they are convinced it will not be able to compete with the other games coming out.

I hope it is good I really do. I’m a huge Starcraft 2 fan and play it to this day, so HW2 is definitely a game I am excited to try out.

In the past ~6 weeks we’ve seen a re-release of HW1(kind of), a press event that offered impressions/footage of all major modes (Campaign/Standard/Blitz), an open Blitz beta, commissioned artwork/posters, there is a launch trailer coming out Monday that will kick-off the final marketing and they’ve informed us of a launch stream event as well. There were already ViDocs released for both Campaign and MP, we’ve seen nearly two complete campaign missions, multiple CGI story trailers, and two open betas for MP.

May not be the greatest marketing campaign ever created, but not exactly a stealth release. There is less “hype” on forums/gaming news sites than many AAA games, but you can’t force that and a console oriented RTS was never going to sell 10 million copies. I wish there had been a PC beta for Deathmatch/Standard though.

One reason is probably because it is a RTS game, most console players aren’t really RTS fans.

Some people are buying the game because it is Halo and want to know what the story is, whereas others are RTS fans and like Halo.

Halo Wars 2 needs at least one TV commercial. It can be expensive, but it needs to be known and spread. I always see Starcraft ads when one is almost out.

Theres going to be a cinematic trailer today and a live event at New York tomorrow.

They have had a lot of events, but remember the game got delayed to Feb 17 from Oct 16. Which meant all the stuff they had done trailer wise and at various conventions in June/July went out the window. So they have had to stretch the games advertisement out without giving away too much.

Remember it is still just a spin off.

It’s not the biggest hype, but there is excitement for the game around.

I’m kinda glad it’s not getting over hyped really, that way we won’t get hundreds of “Halo is dead” posts where people explain why they think halo wars 2 was worse than 5. (Although not a fair comparison)

I say just let the game get a natural birth, let the word spread through mouth that people love it, and it will do great if it deserves it.

That way, hype will come from results, not promises. Which we need a little of that.

Better off with RTS fans than hype/Halo fans, if that makes sense. I think it’s on most people’s radar at this point, regardless of hype.

It’s an RTS and people on consoles don’t care much for them, so I’m not surprised MS isn’t spending too much money on advertising it. If anything this game was pure fan service.

It’s a spin-off game of a different genre after a very disappointing main entry in the series. This lack of hype isn’t all that surprising, to be honest.

Alright dude, I was just being trying to be humerous. I agree with you. Halo 4 and 5 had not lived up to my hype and Halo Wars 2 may not be anything to be extremely hyped for, but it does represent a step in the right direction. The story is yet to be revealed so we can’t make judgments on it yet, but the art style is at least returning to its roots. That alone excites me.

I just don’t want 343 to keep disappointing people,they’ve made me cautiously optimistic

Unless it’s Starcraft I don’t normally see RTS games get hyped.

There is as much hype as can possibly be expected for an RTS coming from an FPS franchise.

I’m happy that there is no hype. I mean look at Halo 5 how many people were hyped and get… Well not that what they expect

Halo Wars has never lived up to the Halo hype such as the FPS games because, well, it’s not a FPS which is the main Halo franchise. Some people also don’t like this style of gaming. All in all, I’m extremely happy. The first beta kinda made me iffy, didn’t quite feel like Halo Wars. But when Blitz came around, even though I wasn’t the biggest fan of that game type (probably because I didn’t get the opportunity to really sit down and figure out some strategy to it), the feel of Halo Wars came back and I’m looking forward to it. Hopefully the game is awesome. I’ll start by playing the story mode, and then hopefully work my way up the ranks again! The grind to the original General level in HW1 was some work, I hope it’s the same way!
