If Objective is going to stay 5v5, there HAS to be a party matching system implemented. It was my favorite playlist for over a year (over 2000 games in that playlist alone) but I can’t stand it anymore. I go in with a party of 3 and get matched with randoms that honestly seem to have never played the game before and we get matched with parties of 5 every frickin game. It’s infuriating. Being a Halo fanboy for 10 years, I’m seriously ready to find another franchise. I’m sick of this game.
Yes, I’m raging, but it’s ridiculous. Team Objective was perfectly fine before. There was no reason to change it.
I assume they changed because there was no other 5v5 playlist because of the removal of Squad outside of DLC.
I honestly find the new settings to be more fun, though a lot people share the same woes as you. The playlist is either people overly competitive or not at all.
Some settings still need to be tweaked as well for the having 10 people as opposed to 8.

TO actually was fine. What wasn’t fine was how people treated it, i.e. as slayer without kill limit, because Bungie simply didn’t think about how a ranking system that rewards only kills ruins any objective gametype. That, or they simply didn’t give a damn.
I agree with the OP. I can usually only play with one friend at this point in Reach’s cycle, and we always seem to be matched up with full teams of 5. I would love to have that many gamers on my list that still played Reach, but let’s face it, only really loyal Halo peeps are still playing this game now, so that’s not possible for me on a consistent basis.
I too hate the 5v5 settings, because at least 4v4 was manageable for a smaller squad, too many people on the maps, random teammates playing horrible, quitting early, or betraying for weapons is just too much to deal with. On top of all this the population is still horrible, 1-200 peeps on most nights. I’m guessing that’s why I’m matched against full teams as often as it happens, there’s just not enough other smaller parties out there to be matched against. And to top it all off, after you lose 1 or 2 teammates to quitting, the full teams will purposely not finish the objective to keep spawn killing(not always, but it’s still pretty prevalent). And let’s not even talk about the invisible snipers on Asylum!!! So lame, and so unskilled. The playlist is just incredibly frustrating.
I would love to see 4v4 again, Sprint only, and more variety added to the map/gametypes.
What really needs to be fixed is the Zealot spawning system. I was playing TU 2 Flag Slayer last night on this map, and got continuously spawn killed by a team that held my team’s flag on the lower level then intentionally dropped it and picked it back up over and over, while not moving and surrounding the spawn spots, killing my team immediately as we spawned. This is tantamount to cheating. This has happened before, and it completely ruins the experience of playing on that map. It’s also another reason why I don’t think k/d ratios accurately reflect skill.

I mentioned and uploaded clips in the Zealot feedback thread.
Hopefully someone noticed and it will get updated next month.

Yes, I am aware of your contribution in that thread, for which I express my appreciation. I thought it worthwhile to mention it here as well, to help make the issue more salient.
I hate to be a pessimist, but I very much doubt it will get fixed next month. They still haven’t fixed the broken weapon spawns on other maps that I’ve been complaining about for months, and they are a much simpler fix than this.

Its always hard to get the little things that need fixing.
Never gets enough attention in the forums or any other way we can bring attention to it, yet everyone knows it needs to be fixed.

Seems your definition of ‘fine’ is different to mine. Team Objective isn’t popular because the gametypes universally ALLOWED that behaviour. Ranking system doesn’t help true, but objective holding happened JUST as much in Halo 3 and Halo 2.
Invasion is, strictly speaking, an objective gametype as well. But amazingly it manages to do just fine with just 1 gametype on 2 maps because it can’t be griefed as much.

yea, this was a terrible change. 4v4 was much better. 5v5 feels clunky, chaotic, random, and forced. 4v4 felt clean, crisp, refined, and strategic. might as well throw this playlist in the casual bin (no offense casual players). yet another ‘serious’ playlist down the reach tubes.
very few of the maps + gametypes in the playlist actually WORK with an extra player per team. the rest of the maps are flat out too small for 5v5 gameplay. this is especially relevant considering our chances of 343 doing anything about the map situation is likely 0%. then again, the chance they would actually read this thread and give a damn is also likely 0%, too.
bring back evade and bring back 4v4 in team objective, and i’ll actually have a reason to play this game AT ALL.

spawn killing isnt cheating. it does suck, i’ll give you that, but calling it cheating is a bit much. they are playing the game, they just happen to have it 1000x more figured out than most. being good doesnt make you a cheater. being a troll by spawn killing doesnt make you a cheater, either.
just quit when this happens. then move on.
and the issue here is ‘trueskill’ that is 0% existent in halo reach.

There is a difference between spawn killing and having the team spawn at the bottom of the base while your in the same room awaiting their spawn.
We had a sword guy camping the bottom of a base while the team was spawning in the same room.

Yes. It defeats the intention of CTF. And it also exploits one of Reach’s systemic flaws by padding the k/d ratios of the flag holders, while unfairly negatively affecting those of the helpless targets. I know one can simply quit, but that has its own associated problems.
If Objective is going to stay 5v5, Wayont and Affinity need to be added as maps because they work very well with it.
Wayont and Affinity post #8.
Party restrictions would be nice too, considering that it’s heavily team based and it’s better that a team of 5 search another team of 5 rather than a team of 5 destroy a bunch of randoms.
